Measurements diapearing from Garmin Connect

So here is what I am observing:

I weigh in on my Garmin Index every morning. If I check Garmin Connect shortly thereafter, it shows all six measurements - weight, body fat, BMI, % water, Muscle Mass, and Bone Mass. Then sometime during the day, all the measurements disappear except for Weight. I have checked Garmin Connect on my PC, Android Phone, and IPad and its the same on all of the, the reset of the measurements are gone.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Dan
  • Am having the same issue - did contact support and followed steps of uninstall and reinstalling GC on phone and rebooting index which fixed it and I got the full measurements displayed (problem started for me randomly on 20th Jan) - the above steps fixed it on 2nd Feb and then randomly it broke again on 8th Feb and removed additional metrics (interestingly enough I was away in Spain during 4th - 11th Feb and thus was not using the scales during this time ...

Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix?
  • Hahaha! Just received an automated email from Garmin titled "Your Opinion Matters" and a link to a survey.

Let's just say they didn't get a top score from me...! (However I put the link to this forum thread in the comments field)
  • Sometimes I only have 2 metric show up, not all the 6 metrics. Anyone know why?

I wonder if this have anything to do with timing when stepping off the scale. What is a good time or no such thing?
  • While there appears to be focus on the Fenix3 and the Index scale, I have the same issue with my old Tanita BC-1000 scale and 910XT. They both worked fine up until late last year and now nothing will sync to Connect, the watch shows that it is capturing the metrics fine. I have deleted MFP connection from Connect (which did work briefly for me). I am on 6.0.0 of Express and 3.20 for the watch. Interestingly I also tried to enter my weight manually and even that didn't show on Garmin Connect web version, but bizarrely did show on Mobile connect dashboard (but not in the detail page). Raising a ticket as well with support to try and get some traction on this.
  • For me it kept the additional metric this morning.

Pretty unusual, because since mid January it kept removing them right in the moment I stepped off the scale. (MyFitnessPal and Runtastic are still connected)

Today evening I will upload an activity and see if it is still there.

*Update: The additional metrics disappeared before I could do an activity.*

    Best regards
    Christian
  • All data except weight and bmi wiped as usual today. As usual it got wiped as soon as I sync an activity. And I confirm and underline it does this data destruction with or without MyFitnessPal connected.
  • same problem. Index scale, FR735XT. Wife's data is still there.

My new scale is 5 days old. All my data is still there. I am seeing this on my android phone. How to replicated what you do?
  • This from the Garmin Connect Forum is probably very relevant. As there is much in this thread that suggests the problem is the watches’ data overwriting the scale data.

If only support could be bothered to investigate this systematically.

I started having issues sometime in mid January this year. Weight is added every day repeating the last entry I made. I have no connections to other apps or index scale, that could cause problems, just my Fenix 5 watch. No way of knowing if I actually weighed myself or not...

After some emailing with support they told me that this is a "design choice" and not a bug/issue. My only remaining question is if it was an intentional or unintentional design choice...

Forum moderators and stealthy Garmin people browsing this thread: We need your help with this issue and the chaotic lack of consistency across Garmin support interactions. I have written to Garmin Vice President of Communications and he tells me he has passed the link to this thread to the company’s head of Public Relations.

I do do hope that somehow somebody at Garmin gets a grip of this. Not least because of the damage it does to the company’s reputation.

    Hi all,

I am a new Garmin user. Bought a Vivoactive3. Connected up and started using it mainly for mountain biking and the watch and Connect are working really well (connected with Strava too, not MFP, though have deleted MFP off my phone altogether after reading this to see is that makes a difference).

Thought I'd add some more data to the picture and bought the Index scales which arrived on Friday. The only issue I have with them is that it loses the additional measurements data after a period of time. I'm still nutting out the exact issues for me, but I used them first thing this morning (6:30am), the additional data was there until about 10am, then wiped and left with only weight and BMI. The additional data from Saturday (and only Saturday so far) however has remained and is displaying correctly. Activities don't seem to affect the loss of the data (not done an activity yet today and it's gone). The wifi connections to the scales etc. seem fine. It always has a tick at the end of the arrows to say uploaded.

Interestingly I added my husband to the scales who doesn't have a Garmin device. We downloaded Connect for him just to use the scales and his data is saving fine! So Connect and Index alone are working well. Mine where I have a watch also connected is where our issue lies. Still deciding what to do with them, whether to keep or not. Tempted to wait it out and try a few extra things. Regardless of the connection they still seem to work well as all round body scales.

Update on things I have tried: I uninstalled and reinstalled GC, deleted MFP (not that I used it or was synced to GC but did it anyway) and all data remains (I am still linked with Strava). Did an activity yesterday and as soon as the activity went into GC the additional data disappeared, leaving only weight and BMI. So I can narrow the issue I'm seeing with uploading of activities.
