Worth upgrading from Tanita BC1000?

Just wondered if there is anyone who has 'upgraded' their Tanita BC1000 to the Index and can recommend doing so?

Does the Index output the same metrics as the BC1000? - from what I can see it doesn't have metabolic age, physique rating, and visceral fat rating, unless GC calculates it externally?

I like the idea of the wireless uploads and the integration with GC/mobile, saves all the fuss of messing about with the 810 and then uploading to GC and the display, but is it worth it?
  • As it is now it would be a resounding "No" from me.

I've had my Index Scales since December 2015 and have barely been able to use it reliably. I've seen all of the issues raised by people on this forum e.g. issues adding the scale to my network, issues getting the scale to sync reliably.

Luckily I stil have my Tanita BC-1000 that I should be able to use with my Edge 520 until I can get the Index Scale working reliably.

  • FAT% way out

I would wait....i'd Tanita BC1000 for the last 4 year, now update to Index Smart Scale but while the Tanita fat% was +/- 1% from the scale (Biavector Akern) of my nutritionist so between 9,5 and 11% now the garmin scale show 4,5/5% average this is far out from be accurate

NO. wait for working software, the scale is at the moment only a big beta project.
  • I ordered mine.

All products from Garmin are released buggy and at Beta stage. So no surprises.

In the other hand - you are so satisfied when the product is finally usable.

Dcrainmaker approved it. Im ok with that;-)
