Track mode coming to FR935?

I have seen that a beta track mode is coming to some of the newer models. Would be great to have this feature on the later models like FR935 if its just some software.

  • Forget about it. Not going to happen.

  • Garmin, we all love you. It looks like FR935 would have all the hardware capabilities to support the track mode. I am not going to change the FR935 just to have the track mode. Instead I would appreciate if you could implement it on the FR935. And seeing this effort will then motivate me to change the watch.

  • We all love garmin? Count me out!

The battery of my 935 is way more degenerated than you might expect from it’s age.

The heartratesensor is cracked, but according to garmin tha’t not a problem

The firmware is full of bugs, but garmin is not interested in fixing them.

Garmin is not interested in backporting features to older models, like other companies do.

But beside all this. Garmin is a company driven by marketing, not driven by sport enthusiasts.
No, no love from me for Garmin.

  • Least 935 GPS is more accurate

  • My forerunner 935 is fine for the most parts. Navigation is better than Polar. Backend is better than Suunto. But nothing to fall in love with.

My watch is 4 years old and I hope it will last for a couple of years more. After that? Coros looks promising and I haven’t tried that brand. That’s the advantage of not falling in love with a corporation: I can switch to whatever I like.

And GPS is more accurate? It sucks on a track, so I see the need for trackmode. But it’s Garmin. Some people love Garmin, but Garmin doesn’t love it’s users.

  • Yeah Garmin is great with support they have been fantastic with me when I needed a watch fixing, I'll stick with em just for that reason alone. Yeah GPS is most accurate on the 935 and you don't need a track mode on the track you already know the distance and times..

  • Good for you

I can only speak for myself. If I get an assignment from my trainer to do 400m intervals in 3:50/k I like to check that with my watch. Unfortunately my watch doesn't record the correct length on a track. So it reports I'm doing 3:40 - 3:45 per k as I actually do 3:50.

Sure. I can do the maths and convert the required pace to the time I need for the interval. That's easy, isn't it? Even more when you do a pyramid training with 200 - 300 - 400 - 500- 600 - 500 - 400 - 300 - 200 with different speeds. We all love to do maths during training. (yes, I'm being sarcastic)

No, a forerunner 935 is not accurate on a track.

  • If you run fixed distances and you know them in advance maybe you can use some IQ field that do the maths for you....

  • I’ll manage. My next watch will have trackmode. That’s a more useful feature than all the gimmicks like blood oxygen that has been added to a lot of watches lately.

My point was: yes trackmode is a needed function (for people who train on tracks) and no Garmin will not backport features.

Some people get really nervous when you point out an omission in their beloved gadget or company.
