I have seen that a beta track mode is coming to some of the newer models. Would be great to have this feature on the later models like FR935 if its just some software.

Forget about it. Not going to happen.
Garmin, we all love you. It looks like FR935 would have all the hardware capabilities to support the track mode. I am not going to change the FR935 just to have the track mode. Instead I would appreciate…
I’ll manage. My next watch will have trackmode. That’s a more useful feature than all the gimmicks like blood oxygen that has been added to a lot of watches lately.
My point was: yes trackmode…
Your coach should be giving you 400m splits not pace, why would you rely on GPS when you have a full 400m correct distance. You should be learning what the 400m split pace feels like and aiming to reach every one in 1:32 and getting it right by feel. You don't have to be a maths whizz just use a pace converter. https://calc.run/ write down your 200/300/400/500/600 splits it's more accurate and better than track mode as you gotta learn what 3:50 feels like holding that pace for 400 and hitting 1:32s. Cheptegei knows what 60.1 400s feel like that's why he runs like a metronome without looking at his watch.
