Has anyone had True Up work when getting a replacement device?

Saw a few posts from folk saying historical data didn't carry over. I've a warranty replacement arriving tomorrow and was hoping things like training status and my VO2 scores would magically re-appear on the new device with True up...

Cheers,

Greg
  • I did a full reset on my watch last week and got back vo2max, training status and each activity since physio trueup was enabled. Pretty impressed.

I got a replacement device and since then TrueDepth doesn’t work anymore. In the app, training status is different depending on the device that I chose. Activities are transferred to each other device, but training status isn’t combined. Any solution for that? Truest is enabled in all devices.
  • I recently got a new device under warranty. The new device arrived with old firmware not supporting true up. I activated it and everything, but even after updating the firmware, only the old watch stayed accurate with new activities (on either watch). Resetting the new watch with the new firmware installed resulted in a new activation flow which included a question about whether to enable true up. When I did this during activation, THEN everything seemed to work after (or at least, mostly. Still not 1 to 1 on that widget, but at least none of the stats were incorrect, just some missing).

My mostly-best-case functional workflow for a replacement watch is now:

    1) Update with Garmin Express and USB to the newest FW before doing anything.
    2) Activate the new watch with the Garmin Connect Mobile flow (reset it first if you need to)
    3) Follow post #3 in this thread: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/running/forerunner-935-aa/1282161-backup-of-user-settings

At this point, you should have nearly everything just as it was on your old watch. Your apps will be out of order or not added, but they should be set up as you left them (i.e. "run" will have your Connect IQ data field you like up front, etc). Your widgets will be all hoey, but their configurations (and watch face configs) should be as they were on the old watch.

Unfortunately, still not a 1:1 mirror image of your old device, but close.
  • thanks alexwhittemore , that's roughly what I just did with my warranty replacement. As soon as it asked me to enable True Up the new watch quickly showed training status, VO2 etc.

    Impressed :)
