Garmin Forerunner 935 increases the stress level !

Hellol!

Garmin Forerunner 935 increases the stress level against Vivoactive 3. I make the test 3 days.
Restart to factory settings, remove apps, send to service. No solution. Garmin Forerunner 935 does not work right.

Do you have the same problem? I'm looking for a solution to the problem... !? ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1312844.jpg ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1312845.jpg

GARMIN THE STRESS TEST DO NOT WORK RIGHT!
Give me the money and pay me damages!

You say the stress widget doesn't work and keeps rising. Based on your last post it seems that it's working just fine. :)
  • I only wear mine for activities yet I see my stress score rising and falling. Currently it's at 40 after a session of hill efforts. Yesterday it was at 74 after a 1500m swim (likely because HR would have been all over the place from the wrist HR after biking to and from the pool) and I am looking at an average of 58 over the last seven days. So, despite not wearing it 24/7 I see the numbers changing. What do they mean? Are they realistic? Are they imaginary? It's a number based on research that might have some relevance. If the numbers don't look right, is it the device or how it's being used? Is it interference from some 3rd party add-on or CIQ datafield? Is the device just broken?

For some reason I appear to be one of the luckiest people on this forum as I've had few problems over the years with my Garmin devices since the 305. No idea why. I'm not saying that I've had none. But somehow the same names keep popping up with a range of problems so it does make me wonder what I am doing differently. Is my training load so far this year - 162 hrs 1700km of swimming, cycling and running - not high enough? Is it that I don't have, nor ever had have, any CIQ data fields or 3rd party apps? Maybe it's because I'm past 60 and these devices only like old folk :-) LOL!

There needs to be some grounding of expectations with reality. The best these devices can do is provide some guidance, not a clinical solution. If you have a problem, yes it's very annoying. But I do find it hard to accept when the problems of a few are generalised as a problem for the many.

You just don't seem to get peoples expectations. If Garmin push an all day stress recording function, then it has to provide realistic data. Otherwise it is useless. Similarly, if you bought a new car, and on the dasboard it had a heated seat switch, you would expect the seats to get warm when you pushed the button.

If Garmin had an asterix next to the product description, and it said that the all day stress function may or may not work, it all depends, then fair enough. But this would not simply be acceptable.

I have spent an awful lot of time and now money on emails, chats and RMA postage to Garmin, and I am pleased to say have finally got a solution to both the all day stress issues (this never worked) and the elevation/barometer issues caused by the version 8.0 upgrade.

I can show you pictures of the all day stress when it didn't work and now how it works fine. The difference is stark, and backs up my comments on this and everybody else's issues with the same watch function.

Not one person has said they live and die by the all day stress values, but we all no our own bodies, so when I had high stress values all through the night, when alseep, I simply did not believe the results and rightly questioned these values with Garmin.

I have mentioned this before. The 935 is an expensive watch, with many whisltes and bells. These have to function out of the box, as promised by the vendor.

The 3rd party IQ apps is a bit of a grey area, as they have the potential to cause issues, but again, as Garmin have opened up IQ apps, they still have to investigate issues with them, and advise a best course of action should these cause problems with the stock Ggarmin 935 set up.

I think it is fair to say that as these watches have packed in more and more funtionaility, that the niggly software problems and angst has risen.

I think garmin have taken a poor approach to fixing both the all day stress issue and the elevation issues post 8.0.

On both issues, I said I was happy to work with them, provide debug info and try to get this resolved. I did a similar thing with a friend way back on the 920xt when we had issues with swim metrics in a 17 metre pool.

Now, I just got ignored and told the issue was very low priority. Not really good enough.

So withhold and/or withdraw your custom from Garmin, as is your right as a consumer. You don't have to engage in a commercial transaction with a supplier (be it a product manufacturer or retailer) whose behaviour or standards you personally find unacceptable. If your expectations are not met, back out; I wholeheartedly support reversal of the purchase transaction, such that you get the purchase price refunded if you choose to return the product and not get any benefit at all from owning or using it.

And ... you had the same Software on it, before and after the RMA ...? The same Software myself and many other million happy users have loaded ...?

..... that the niggly software problems and angst has risen...

So, back to your RMA and now the one million dollar question: what was not the issue?

Soenkenielsen, your points are far too cryptic for me. I am a customer. I have a right not to be happy and a right to expect a vendor to provide me with a working product and some satisfaction.

ASmugDill - I think I am coming to the point in time whereby I would not automatically upgrade to the next Garmin sports watch, and would investigate more thouroughly the competition. Having said that, I would not be surprised if both Polar and Suunto watches were just as niggly with software bugs and hardware weaknesses. Such is the life of a consumer. :)
  • I wrote to Garmin email about the problem and I'm thinking of changing the company. Garmin are exposed.
  • New Software Version 3.50 for Vivoactive 3 - noting obout STRESS TEST!
  • You say the stress widget doesn't work and keeps rising. Based on your last post it seems that it's working just fine. :)
