Garmin Forerunner 935 increases the stress level !

Hellol!

Garmin Forerunner 935 increases the stress level against Vivoactive 3. I make the test 3 days.
Restart to factory settings, remove apps, send to service. No solution. Garmin Forerunner 935 does not work right.

Do you have the same problem? I'm looking for a solution to the problem... !? ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1312844.jpg ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1312845.jpg

After the update to 8.0 I also had an issue with high stress level. First I thougt it was caused by a cold. But I also had the very abnormal behavior that my stresslevel was even increasing during meditation. So I did an factory reset today and that seemed to have solved the problem. No I see again more blue resting graphics.
    Happy again.

Sorry to say this, but issue will most probably reappear in few days. Keep us posted.
  • I have done the reset on my Vivoactive 3 an have had ?proper´ results for a week now...

@ASmugDill: It appears jeholleyonetel is concerned with how his 935 is measuring his stress, but how do you come to the conclusion that he feels entitled to have a consumer grade gadget with the accuracy of a clinical grade device? I've read his post and what I took from them is he feels it works poorly and wants improvements. What's wrong with that? Where are these demands you say he's requesting? You say you take issue with consumers who feel this way. I think the issue may be your assumptions.

Thank you TMK17, you have accurately judged my comments. I don't expect the device to work perfectly, but if Garmin state that the watch has this ablility, you upgrade from the 920xt, only to find this feature is pure garbage, then I think I have a right to be a bit miffed.

The results I am getting just tell me that it is not working as it should, and like many other people have highlighted.

If I hard reset the watch, it works fine for about two days, and then goes back to what I view as innacurrate data.

Considering this watch is north of £400, then being told not to expect things to work as they should is just nonsense.

I am absolutely frustrated by their lack of support. Two months, three resets, three e-mails and one phone call does not produce anything good. They do not even reply to the e-mails. I have tried different methods also. The fact that the measurements seems to be okay for almost a week after a reset points out that something is wrong with the way they calculate. It is like writing a piece of code for some mathematical solver, where the residuals does not go down and the solution diverges. Somebody telling me to go to a doctor for health check would not convince me. The measurements of stress and RHR are both almost garbage now-a-days. I would not have cared much about the stress value, but since they offered a functionality and I paid for the same, I suppose I am entitled to expect reasonable level of satisfaction on that regard. I am not expecting any professional medical device level precision here.

I quite agree Deep, that was one of the reason for buying it and puting my 920xt in a draw. The values i have received appear similar to youyrs, and all i got from Garmin post Xmas was that it was a low priority fix. Not sure that is something you divulge to a customer who considers the issue more than a low priority.

Contact with Garmin has now got very poor. My suggestion is a chat session, and asking them to give you a fault reference to properly track the issue that you have raised with them.

I am soon to get my 3rd 935 in 9 months, the latest RMA due to issues with elevation/barometer following the version 8.0 update. I am not at all hopeful that the new hardware will resolve the stress values.

OK, so I have an update that I think those that are suffering will be quite keen on. Since purchasing my 935, the all day stress has always been bad. A hard reset wouyld always curte it, but after a day or two it would go back to crap data. I also had an issue when upgrading to version 8.0, which screwed my elevation stats. Essentially Garmin did nothing to try and fix this issue, the only update was, we are working on it.

I called Garmin to chase up this issue early last week. Straight away I was offered an RMA, as he stated that as the issue had been escalated, this would fix the issue.

The new 935 duly arrived in two days and it came loaded with 7.60. I waited a few days, and as expected, the elevation and barometer was perfect.

All day stress started to work fine for the first two days, and then went bad again. This was my second RMA in the space of 6 weeks, as Garmin had previously replaced it due to issues over all day stress, but even on version 8.0, it made no difference.

So after a couple of days of use on 7.6, the all day stress went bad again on 7.6. Damn I thought. I then thought i would upgrade to 8.0 as i had nothing to lose. I am slightly amazed that five days later, all day stress is recording perfectly, and now looks to be sorted.

So what conclusion can we come to? I can only presume that this was a combined fix of hardware and software, as the new RMA watch only worked for all day stress on ver 8.0, and not 7.6. There was a patch in 8.0 for all day stress, so in my case, it l;ooks to have resolved my issue.

BUT, it is worth noting that a similar path, 6 weeks earlier with my other RMA, and putting 8.0 on it, did not produce the same effect. So it appears that the new watch (2nd RMA) must be different in some way to the first RMA watch.

RMA seems to be the answer, and i would encourage you to get on the phone, definately if you are still in warranty, but also if you are out of warranty and your all day stress has never worked.
  • Sorry to say this, but issue will most probably reappear in few days. Keep us posted.

Now after 2 weeks, still everythings fine after the reset. So I am still happy.
  • Who would've guessed a stress widget would cause so much stress :)
