Road Bike Activites are stored as plain Bike activities

I was using a FR735 previously which had 3 different bike activities:
Bike, Road Bike and MTB.

Now I "upgraded" to the FR935 and there's only the Bike activity and MTB.
I tried to copy the "Bike" activity and renamed it to "Road Bike" - but the outcome is that activities in Garmin Connect will always have "Bike" and not "Road Bike".
Same if I create a "Other" activity + rename to "Road Bike".

Please note that I have the german version - and the activity is called "Radfahren" and should be "Rennradfahren" - so might be that my translation above is not 100% accurate.

Anyone who could help out here and give me a hint what I am doing wrong?

Thanks
  • Good morning. Well I must have done something wrong on my next attempt. I took my wife's latest activity and exported it from Garmin. I replaced all the values from her watch to the Captain Marvel watch. I am now getting FIT file integrity failure when I run the java script to get the CRC value. What is even weirder is that the value of her watch 2431 which is 097F in hex is showing in the hex editor as 097F instead of 7F09.

  • What is even weirder is that the value of her watch 2431 which is 097F in hex is showing in the hex editor as 097F instead of 7F09.

If you convert the original FIT to CSV, what value shows up for the garmin_product field in the CSV file?

  • I saw what I did. When I was doing the search and replace in the hex editor I made changes in the wrong fields as well as the device fields.  I went back and redid the changes in the correct location and I was able to save to Garmin. I have to pay attention to where those numbers are showing up at. Sorry for the confusion.
