A few new problems

I recently started having a few issues with my watch.

1) I just started having a problem with my battery indicator while the watch is charging. When it is on the charger, and it doesn't matter if it's on a computer or a wall outlet, the battery percentage indicator doesn't change. I know the watch is charging though because when I remove it from the charger the percentage goes up and shows the actual battery charge. It doesn't do it every time, but it is doing it most of the time now.

2) When I get a popup notification for something like "Connected" or "Disconnected" or the move bar, sometimes that popup doesn't go away until I press the back button. It just remains on the screen until I clear it. If I get a notification for something else, like an email, while the popup is still on the screen I can see that notification under the popup so the entire watch isn't frozen, just that popup. It doesn't happen all the time, but it just started happening and it is random.

3) Randomly, when I am in my notifications screen the watch is either very delayed sometimes or it doesn't respond to my button press at all, like to open a notification from the Dismiss screen, it won't open. But when I press the back button it responds to that so I know it's not the whole watch that is frozen, just notifications.

Anyone else with any of these?
  • The unplugging thing I've also seen mentioned in the f5 forums. That looks to be something that I believe was fixed in one of the f5 betas that haven't made it to the 935.
  • I have done the reset holding down the power button for 15 seconds but that only solves the problems temporarily. I'm not ready to do a whole watch reset deleting my settings and data. Is that what you mean?

A hard reset is holding down the light button for 10secs. The next stage is a master reset which will clear settings and data. It might seem a hassle, but if it fixes all your issues then what is 10 minutes extra re-setting up the watch? It it was me, i'd try it. Garmin watch occasionally get in a state and the only way to fix them is to reset to defaults. If you can get any of the issues to happen in the default state then it will be easy for Garmin to replicate and therefore easier for them to fix.
  • When you notice your battery % not going up and you are charging off a pc check to see if the time is also standing still. This "frreze" is what the fenix guys had and it should now be resolved in the last beta release. If your issue is the same i am sure the Fr935 will soon get that same fix via a beta release. If it is different and the restart is not helping perhaps notify the beta software team.

The fenix thread is ... https://forums.garmin.com/forum/on-t...x-5-5s/159710-

  • Ok you guys, I did the reset on my watch this afternoon and did all my settings again. Let's see if any of these things are still present.
  • So, after the reset I did a 4 mile run tonight and when I got home I put my watch on the charger. It did NOT stay on the same percentage. It gradually went up until it reached 100% like it is supposed to. That's the first time in a couple weeks that it worked properly. So I am going to say that resetting the watch to factory settings worked for this problem.

I have not seen the problem with the notification staying on the screen but that was not as frequent so it'll take a few days to know if that is also fixed.
  • Meh, did a factory reset not too long ago and really don't feel like repeating that every month or 2 :/

At least it does charge when connected, only thing I have to remember is restarting the watch after charging because it also seems to mess up OHR. I'll just wait for a FW update before going through the entire reset process again because I don't really like loosing my VO2 and all other stats again.

i got the same #1 issue.
  • Yea, I did not want to do it but it did get rid of these annoying problems, for now. And I did get my RD Pod reminder message back too. I run enough that I'll get my stats back soon enough. I'm being careful about what I install for now too just in case one of the apps is causing this. I've only installed my watch face and a stretch app and the only other things I have are from Garmin.
  • So, the battery indicator and the connection/move bar notification problems were only fixed temporarily by resetting my watch. Both problems came back this week. Grrrr!!
  • Just remembered one other problem I've been having. There have been several times when I will roll over in bed and the watch light comes on in the gesture even though I have Do Not Disturb activated during my sleep hours. When I look I notice that Do Not Disturb is actually not on and yet the time is within my set sleep hours. If I reset the watch and reconnect to my phone it will go back to doing what it's supposed to do. So it also does that. There seems to be a lot of resetting of the watch to make it do what it's supposed to do.

I reported the same issue in another thread. Resetting didn't help for me. It seems it's working fine for other people.
