735xt Locks on GPS but then doesn't record distance during activity.

Hello,

I have contacted support on this one but their only response is to send it back an I cannot afford to be without it at the moment.

Every 3 to 5 activities my 735xt seems to corrupt something internally and stops working.

- Usually first notice it after starting an activity and it wont record the distance despite always getting a full GPS lock.
- Then when I try to save or even discard the activity, the watch just hangs and shows "Saving" or "Discarding" until the battery goes flat.
- After this nothing will sync properly with Garmin connect.

Only fix I have found is to "reset to factory defaults" and then it seems to behave properly again.

Anyone else had a similar issue or know of a fix?

Same issue here - just started randomly a few days back (10th Jan, same as original post, coincidence perhaps?). Finally went through a full reset today, but even then was left with some sort of syncing issue...

- Trying to force a sync from the watch I got the message that data transfer was already in progress. Kept trying with the same result for well over an hour.
- From the (Android) Connect App, couldn't manage any of the widgets/watchfaces/data fields (just got an error message) nor could it run the 'find my device' option

Always managed my watch through the app before but thought I'd try downloading and connecting through Garmin Express on a PC. Issue persisted, until I sent a data field from there to the device, which seems to have resolved the above.

Tried saving and/or discarding a couple of times since and that seems to be behaving too. For now, at least...

Yeah none of that helps.

Also talking to another tri club member found they were having the same problem. Between us we had been through 6 watches returning to the store and all of them have the same issue.

There is a fundamental flaw in your product GARMIN do you have a response?

I contacted Garmin and they told me to send my watch in for repair - but held off because other 735 XT users are having the same issue, I figured it can only be software. Garmin have yet to comment on any of these threads..

Yeah gotta be software. Never had an issue until first workout after Christmas, and I know I had downloaded an update for the watch in December.

Exact same problem and it is driving me up the wall. I've reset the watch three times - coincided with the last major update in December.

I’ve the same issue. GPS locks, it notifies when a Strava segment is nearby, however the track doesn’t register.
The lap button doesn’t work either during the activity.

When saving at the end of the activity, it remains displaying Saving...

No activity is finally registered.
I had this issue during my last 2 exercises.
The one before this, was giving issues with Heart rate monitoring. So last 3 exercises were troublesome

Garmin are aware of the issue, hopefully a fix coming soon..
