How to answer an incoming call?

Hello, is there any way, how to pick up or reject an incoming call (and not just mute ringing phone?). There are much better buttons on my 735 than on my handsfree, so I would like to use them for this purpose. I have checked GCs permissions in the phone, but all granted. Thanks for any tips.

At this time, no Garmin wearable is able to answer a phone call coming from the Android operating system.
• And is there a chance, that this will be repaired?

There is certainly a use case for being able to answer the phone with the watch, for instance in a car while using Bluetooth it would be safer to answer from the watch than to fumble around for the phone to answer.

You're still using the wrong framing tacitly, and not exactly being subtle about it. It's a shortcoming at worst, but definitely not a defect to not provide the feature you want when it wasn't promised. There's a gap between your expectations (set for a ‘GPS smartwatch’) and what is actually offered. No defect, no repair.

I'd expect that if you're able to connect your phone to your car's audio system via Bluetooth, then there's most likely the facility to answer the call by a control on either the steering wheel or the front panel of the audio system. In the same way, wearing a connected Bluetooth (mic-equipped, call-compatible) headset would almost in every case provide you with a control to answer incoming calls without touching the phone.

It's illegal in most States in Australia to handle your phone while driving, irrespective of whether the driver is answering or rejecting a call, changing the music track, or setting a GPS navigation destination on the handset. However, being able to see the caller's name and then initiate answering the call on one's watch is a matter of user preference, not a requirement of the answer-a-call-while-driving use case.
• I would really like to know your real motivation to write these long posts which give absolutely no value added in the given context :-)

I must however insist: smartwatch = ability to answer a call. You can change nothing on this simple equation even by a dozen of posts :-)

blah blah blah

• same problem with Fenix 3 and android 5.1.1

I have the same problem - no posibility to ansver or reject incoming call.
The mute has also no effect - it only drops notification on Fenix but phone is still ringing - it's really frustrating.

According to this thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?348417-New-phone-new-problem
it has been working in the past with android. It seems it could be problem of Garmin Connect but I tried to install some older versions of GC (3.3, 3.1, 2.14, 2.13) and it didn't work with any of them - everything with last firmware version 7.0.

Also this one message says it works (or worked) on LG G4 with Android 5.1 https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?314627-Decline-incoming-phone-call&p=695085#post695085
So what's the problem ?
• The mute has also no effect - it only drops notification on Fenix but phone is still ringing
I've just tested incoming call notifications on my Forerunner‑235, (separately) connected to up-to-date Garmin Connect Mobile apps on my:

[th]Mobile device
make and model[/th][th]Mobile device
operating system[/th][th]Response
option(s)
on the FR235[/th][th]Effect on
mobile device[/th]

Microsoft Lumia 532Windows 10 Mobile▼ DismissNil

Samsung SM-G800YAndroid 4.4.2▼ SilenceRingtone is silenced[sup]†[/sup]
and vibrations cease
without rejecting call

Samsung SM-T705YAndroid 5.0.2▼ SilenceRingtone is silenced[sup]†[/sup]
and vibrations cease
without rejecting call

† On the handset's speaker, or if a wired headset is plugged into its stereo headphones jack, on the headset (as well).

so, in every case, the effect on the mobile device is as reasonably expected, and in no way either affects or is perceivable by the caller. (Interestingly, any of my several Bluetooth headsets or speakers – all of different brands including Samsung, LG, Sony, JBL – connected to the Android device would continue play the incoming call tone in my ear, even after the ringtone on the handset itself is silenced.) If I don't answer the call after pressing the Down button on the FR235, then my mobile service's Call Forward on No Answer will be triggered, as opposed to Call Forward on Busy if I'd rejected the call.

What is the verbatim response option presented on the fēnix to incoming call notifications? ‘▼‑Mute’? ‘▼‑Decline’? ‘▼‑Reject’?

If it is ‘▼ Mute’ or ‘▼ Silence’, does that actually suppress the ringtone and vibrations on the phone, while still allowing the user the opportunity to answer the call within the next few seconds (until the mobile network drops or forwards the call)?
• possible solution - not for everyone

I did some more tests and this is result - but answers first:

The response option on the fenix is ▼ Silence (with last Garmin connect 3.6) or ▼ Decline (older Garmin connect 3.1) and both these versions DON'T WORK with Android 5.1.1 (Nexus 4).
The telephone is ringing and vibrating all the time.

But I noticed one indication which let me find "solution" - after pressing Silence/Decline, the star icon of priority mode appears in the phone status bar ... and there is big difference between Android 5.0 and 5.1 in the priority mode.

So I installed Android Xposed module called "True Silent Mode" which restores old android silent mode. Now both versions of Garmin connect with ▼ Silence or ▼ Decline suppress the ringtone (phone is still vibrating with possibility to answer on the phone display). I would better have the possibility to decline the call but silence is much more better than long ringing.

This solution is working but it is not for everyone - Xposed for Android needs root.
Maybe some telephones shoud have some special settings abot notifications/interruptions which should also solve the problem.

This morning a friend of mine received a call on her Nexus 5 with Android 6 and was able to answer the call on her FR235. Is this functionality being added for us Android users or is Google exposing this functionality in some way?
