Garmin Forerunner 655 Release

Is the Garmin Forerunner 655 about to be introduced? The Amazon price on the 645M has plummeted and the 645 is pushed down to the bottom of sports watches on the Garmin.com site.

I bought a Forerunner 645M the week they were launched and have been very happy with it. However I was hoping we would see a 655 by now. I am fairly confident we will at some point as there are still features…

I cannot agree with this. I have had my Garmin 645M since it became available and I am satisfied. Except for the firmware with the freezes I can't really say anything negative.

I wonder if they'd then run into the same problem as the last cycle. The 645 came out a year before the 945 and 245, then a lot of people complained that the 245 had lots of things that the 645 had…

So, the 745 is now on the site and the 645 is gone. Does this mean that there is no future 6xx?

I don't think so, but we will see. Maybe in the next year?

Good and positive issue with 745 is that GPS accuracy looks much better compared to 645 – based on DC Rainmaker review.

as a 645 user for a couple years now, I'm torn between a 245, a 745, and continuing to wait and see about a 6xx.

A lot of my electronic purchases come from Germany, best price I found for a new 945 there is €479 which leaves the 745 looking a bit lost as it's close to €500.

What does it mean that you can no longer purchase the 645/645M on the Garmin site? Anything?

You need your phone and an internet connection for the background map images, yes.

My 645M is begiinning to lose considerable capacity on the battery now. Is there any hope for a 655, or is it time to look at one of the other lines for a replacement? What are others doing?

I'm waiting for the Forerunner 255 or the 655, whichever comes first. The 245 came out in April, 2019, so maybe by the third anniversary...?

Me personally I'll wait until there is a real follower for runners available with significant improvement of hardware (top on my list is OLED). Venu2s would be a candidate, but castrated runners features (even HRM Run is not working, really strange).

If 645M would stop working, I would buy 645M again (still available in some shops).

If 655 would be available with OLED and at least 645M features (and price below $400) I'll order immediately. If not, I'll live with decreasing capacity of my 645M.
