645 screen freeze constant

Anybody got any other methods that work?  Screen freezes after 2-3 activities.  Watch is then completely disfunctional and I may as well be wearing an unintelligent bracelet.  Unfortunately it's about 2 weeks out of warranty.  A bit peed off that a product in my eyes is so expensive yet has numerous problems.  Please any ideas anyone?

  • Is it maybe because of latest software-update ? I mean not the main software (5.70 was working fine on mine), but any additional software, like this sensor-hub-update or however it is called again .. see following link:
    https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-645-645-m/168221/sensor-hub-6-60-upgrade

  • My watch freezes every time at the end while syncing with my phone, that is when I open the Garmin Connect App and start syncing with my watch the watch does not freeze until the last say 5% but then it always freezes for about 30 seconds or so. Every time. Doesn't matter if a manually trigger a sync (upper right corner next to the round watch image) or if I just open the app and it automatically starts syncing.

I was lucky that it doesn't have to do anything with activities like in your case, sorry.

This only started happening since a couple of weeks. I guess it's a software update.

I experience the same issue and I'm on 5.70. not sure how related is, but first time it happened was after that hub update.

It would be nice to receive some sort of feedback from Garmin.

I have also just started having this issue for the first time since I brought this watch (June 2018).  I have also noticed that it occurs when I have logged more than one activity in a day, or if I have paused an activity to "Resume Later".  I too am wondering if it's to do with the latest software update.  I'm pretty disappointed as so far I have not had any other issues with the watch, apart from the alarm occasionally not going off just randomly.  Am hoping that some sort of software patch will fix this.  Anyone know of where we can log this issue with Garmin?

  • Mine is doing the same thing now.  I took a few weeks off of running and when I started back up it seems to lock up ever few days randomly and the battery drains much faster.  I started a search to see if this was an issue and found this thread.

  • I have a 645.  Same issue with freezing after saving an activity.  Started when updated to 5.9.  Came back after a few days on 6.20.

    Here's the important new news:

I CALLED CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM.  THEY INDICATED IT IS A PRIORITY, BUT ONLY 24 OTHER PEOPLE HAD REPORTED THE ISSUE.  I TOLD THEM THERE WERE TONS OF COMMENTS ON THE FORUMS.  THEY SAID COMMENTS ON THE FORUMS DO NOT GET TO THE ENGINEERS.

GARMIN EMPLOYEES (like blake) MODERATE THE FORUMS.   BUT THEY DO NOT GET TO THE ENGINEERS EITHER.  TO GET THIS ADDRESSED, YOU NEED TO CALL (888) 442 -7646 AND TELL THEM ABOUT IT.

My 645 does the same thing - freezes every time after saving an activity. It is frustrating because this is an expensive watch and it should not do that. I have had Garmin watches for years and this one has been nothing but problems - Garmin already replaced it due to it completely shutting down within the first month of having it.

I had my 645 freeze three times in 2 months.  I have called every time. Tech said that they are working on fix and are very aware of the problem.  Everyone should keep the phone calls going to Garmin Support and encourage them to work faster ;).  Has anyone switched to the 245?

I also have the same issue and have called an pleaded with them, they told me the same thing; they need more people to report the problem. PLEASE EVERYONE CONTACT GARMIN. HELP YOURSELF.

  • I had another freeze this morning. Not on a WIFI network this time (away from home in China) so the WIFI theory is out for me.

I reported this issue to Garmin a few weeks ago, was told they were well aware of it, and it was being given priority, but I've followed up a couple of times since with no response.
