Scosche Rhythm 24

Hello, anyone out there had the opportunity to use the new Scosche Rhythm 24? It's so new probably not. Anyway I received mine yesterday 6/2/18 and although today Sunday is a scheduled rest day for me I decided I'd give a try while using my treadmill. I wasn't able to get it to connect to my FR 645 or Fenix 5s with Ant+ but Bluetooth works flawlessly but that does me no good because I use another device (Apple Watch 3) with Bluetooth. My Rhythm+ works fine with all 3 devices and connecting/pairing the Rhythm 24 to a device is not that difficult but I could be missing something. Anyway just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this new device. Thanks
  • I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. To be clear, I have 935 and not 645 and I've also got Garmin chest strap. So why do I want to replace optical + chest strap with Scosche optical?

Well, 935 optical is useful only with steady runs. Yeah, it gets bad days from time to time, but 95% of the time it's good as I've found a good placement on my wrist. BUT it's totally useless for any speedwork / hill repeats / tempo runs etc. It's just not working for me as it either does not pick up the increased heart rate, or picks it up and gets stuck at some level or HR is just way off.

Chest strap? It has a big drawback during early spring / late autumn. It goes crazy in dry and cool weather. And it's not just happening to me during that time. + I've been running with chest straps for years and I'm really (mentally) tired of them. There is a wonderful feeling of freedom when I go for a run with optical instead of chest strap. And I want to keep this feeling also during tougher workouts or races. + I really hate those 1-2 seconds when I put on the wet strap around my chest in the beginning and I have to shiver.

Therefore I'm planning to use optical + optical instead of optical + chest strap (as currently). And I really don't care about "advanced Garmin metrics" that I'm going to loose as they're no use to me anyway although I run almost every day.

P.S. if Scosche performs good in the water as well (HR reading, it doesn't slide during the swim) I'm also going to give up my Garmin swim chest strap.

Does any one test Rhythm 24 in swim?
Can it store the HR Data which can be downloaded by Garmin watch after swim, just like the Garmin hrm-swim chest strap?

    THANKS
  • the 645 can't download batch HR info for a swim from a Garmin HRM-Swim or HRM-Tri, and I believe the Rhythm may even use a different way to do it. So I doubt it.

  • For those of you using the Scosche Rhythm 24, how are you finding it? So far I'm pretty disappointed, and I'm getting close to pushing the "return" button. Still waiting for Ray's review. Bad news: I got the Rhythm 24 and I found the Garmin forerunner 935 can not download hr data from it after swim.
  • The good thing is that it shows solid running HR data compared to Garmin chest strap when you find the best place where to put it (for me upper forearm didn't work, but on my biceps it performs well).

BUT... the biggest problem is that it gives the training effect / training load etc. metrics 0 when paired and used with my 935 :( meaning that it's useless until this is fixed.
The swim HR transfer issue also is an issue, but it's a second tier problem for me as I'd like to run with R24 instead of running chest strap, but it can't be done at the moment because of TE metrics failure.

I updated firmware to 3.0.0 this morning. And the swim hr still can not transfer to my 935 after swim. Does anyone has the way to solve it?

I have not been able to pair the Rhythm 24 to my 935. The Rhythm + always pairs with no problem. Just to make sure the unit was fine, I paired it quickly to my Apple Watch 3.

I returned mine after the second one (first one wouldn't connect to ant+) would not update my "Training Effect", it would spike my heart rate at the beginning of a run and calories wouldn't even start to count when I used it at the gym on the elliptical and during strength training. I went back to the Rhythm+ and my trusty straps, Wahoo TCKR and HRM Run. I don't like to have to play with equipment when I'm running and or working out.
