Corrupted .fit files that won't upload to Garmin Connect/Express

Hey there--similar issues to others here where my last few activities are apparently "corrupt" and cannot be uploaded to Garmin Express/Connect. They are attached.

Is there any way to prevent this in the future? Don't want to constantly have to manually fix them...

Thanks much!
  • That was the only file I got from the recovery. I used Acive@UNDELETE software to recover the file.

Is there another method you would suggest I recover the file so that everything is there?

    Liam,

have no experience using recovery software

    forum talks mostly about

    WINDOWS recuva, bitwar

MAC, Disk Drill, Data Rescue 5, phtorec or testdisk

are  you using a free version ?

ask yourself, is your data loss enough to justify a purchase ?

  • Yeah the ride probably isn't worth the money

    for goo data recovery software.

  • Thanks for all the help though!!

  • I have a corrupt file this morning after a 4 mile run. It stinks. This is the third time.

have a read in this post here single-activity-won-t-sync

guessing at your post, you already did a reset to default two times ?

feel free to report back here :

    • the amount of FIT files in the ACTIVITY folder on your FR35
      • (when folder contains many fit files time for a backup/clean operation)
    • the amount of FREE memory on your FR35
      • (when low FREE memory, check above and below answer)
    • are you a MAC user
      • (empty BIN on device)
    • was this activity with a long duration or distance compared to previous activities
      • ( long ones use more memory )
    • was this activty with a pause somewhere during the activity

run your file through Fit File Tool's section remover

import this fit file manual from within Garmin Connect Web

    when this fails

with your consent we can have a look at your file with FitFileRepairTool

zip the fit file and upload here in the forum

or provide a link to it on a cloud storage

or zip and send it via pm

  • Hi, I've had the same issue with a corrupted .fit file, and sorry I know there's already so much info here about how to solve it yourself, but I've tried uploading it to fitfiletools.com and using Garmin.kiesewetter, but the first time it only displayed half the run and with the second one it showed the correct distance and time but with no map of the route. Problem is I can't figure out how to even attach it here, it says it's not a known URL or file extension. Can anyone help with this please? Thank you!

  • I'm having issues with my .fit file that will not sync to my Garmin app or to Strava. I've downloaded it to my computer and tried to fix it by using the corrupt time fixer (https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/ctf#view) which did not work. I also tried the online garmin fit repair tool (http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/) which partially fixed the file, so that it can now be manually added to garmin connect (but Strava reads this as an "empty" upload), but the map does not show where I actually ran, only a small segment of where i start and ended my run and no elevation data (but the time and distance is correct). I think there is an issue with the GPS data, which I do not know how to fix and am not sure it is fixable. Maybe someone knows how to fix this? Thanks in advance!
