My 235 froze this morning during the 7.70 update, screen showed the green circle without any animation. Holding the light/power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute shut off the watch. waited for another minute or so and powered it up and it behaving normally.
Needless to say my opinion of whoever is doing the programming for Garmin drops with every update cycle. To the point I am starting to suspect that they are intentionally introducing bugs to keep the checks rolling in.
Note to Garmin, if you are paying an outside service to do your programming you need to FIRE them, because they are ripping you off. If you are doing your programming internally you need to FIRE the Section Manager and 1/2 the Programmers to get the message across they need to do Quality work.
BTW, I've been an Engineer for Automotive Suppliers since 1982 and currently GM, Ford, and Chrysler expect a Failure Rate of less than 1 in 3 Million for any product supplied. In addition if any supplied product defect results in a Recall the supplier is expected to pay ALL of the costs associated with that Recall. To be blunt, your programming is failing BADLY.
My Garmin forerunner 235 is also having charging issues. It doesn't charge and I cannot turn it on. So annoying, battery was lasting 3-5 days before so must be a software thing. Cleaned the contacts, tried another charger. Tried turning it on with the tips and also soft reset -all with no luck. I hope it isn't dead; over $100/year of use seems steep.
