Hello everyone,
We have released Official software version 12.4 for the Edge 820. It will revert back to previous software while we investigate reports of sensor dropouts. Information about it can be found…
First off I would like to thank all of you for the information you have provided. It is extremely helpful in resolving the issue permanently.
We would like to collect some additional data so we can get…

My connection issues have been resolved! As almost everyone else, after updating for the new version 12.30 I lost connection to all my sensors or they kept on and off, so my edye 820 became useless. Was…
This is what Garmin says. I've done it a few times in the past and it's worked, but I haven't specifically downgraded from 12.3 to 12.1

Thanks for the link, I'm downloading 'Edge820_1210.gcd' and renaming it as GUPDATE.GCD, then moving to the 'Garmin' file on my Edge, but when I unplug then turn it on there's no firmware to install - it's still on 12.3 and has no updates available.
Am I doing something wrong?
Garmin-Matthew, is there a resolution to the firmware 12.3 issue yet? I also cannot connect to sensors (Garmin HR monitor and Garmin Vector 2 pedals) on my Edge 820. I did a full device reset, it worked with no issues for one ride on Sunday, on today's ride it initially picked up the sensors then dropped out for the rest of the ride.
I understand that some devices may have issues following a firmware update but why is there no support? This has been a known issue for at least 10 days now with several users reporting the same problems but no resolution or useful response from Garmin support.
I've been very unhappy with my Garmin 820 since buying it, there have been many issues, for example; difficult to upload rides without being connected to wifi (for example on holiday), takes several attempts to connect to a laptop or Garmin connect, low battery life (4hrs max), touch screen is difficult to use (not sensitive to touch but overly sensitive to moisture in the air/rain/sweat), often crashes when I try to use navigation,... I've had it replaced 3 times and still have issues. Could you suggest an alternative device that is less frustrating and more reliable?

That's always worked for me. There usually already is a GUPDATE.GCD file in the Garmin directory so you need to delete that or replace it with the new file.
I have noticed the same problem of connection drop for ANT+ devices. I have downgraded it to 11.20, so please, provide a new FW with the required corrections ASAP.
Worked fine for me at first then this morning I lost the bluetooth conneciton to the phone and the power meter kept losing the connection and wouldnt calibrate properly. Had to re-establish the bluetooth connection wih the phone but the power meter still seems unstable
Same problem with Edge 820 after upgrading to 12.30. All my device connections became intermittent. I have TickrX HRM, SRAM red wireless shifters, Tacx neo, and 4iiii left side power.
6 Apr: Upgraded to 12.30. Noticed problem. Chatted with garmin online and the guy recommended I remove and reconnect all bluetooth connections. Annoying AF. I even offered to share my workout file for garmin to use in troubleshooting. Problem went away for one 60 min session, then came back couple days later.
10 Apr: Googled it and found this thread. Tried reverting firmware to 12.10 as suggested by @n-garcia. Again worked for a couple days, but again problem came back. Emailed garmin device support directly.
15 Apr: Trying hard reset as suggest by @3529307 - will try to report back. I am starting to think it's a phone issue as stated by @petem11
Like others on this thread, I am very not happy with wasting my time trying to fix this problem. Have not had trouble with Garmin products in the past, but this is a major issue that I will not forget about easily. Poor response and poor software quality assurance. I do see a garmin rep on the thread, but not much help. Would like to hear that there are folks working on this instead of just requesting information. What happened to making sure things work before releasing new versions?
Can anyone recommend the edge 830, or it also has problems?
Thanks Looigi, I did a search in the 'Garmin' folder for other files ending in .gcd, a couple came up so I deleted them then downloaded the 1210 file again. Not sure if this was the right thing to do but it's installed the older version of the firmware now and seems to be connecting to sensors.... for now anyway.
Disappointing level of engagement and support from Garmin here - nothing for 10days+
if you want specific error logs , give some actions of what you want - as users we clearly are not happy with this update which has impacted Bluetooth connectivity from previously working and connected Garmin Edge 820 products.
I'd expect a fix to be out by now, or at least some communications from Garmin support to give an idea of what YOU are doing resolve this.
Could Garmin give an update??? What should we do? Will there come an update on software?
