520 dropping sensors and Bluetooth.

Upgraded my Edge 520 to software version 13.00 and since then it has been repeatedly dropping connection on sensors and on my phone. Disconnects and reconnects every 30 seconds. Very annoying.

Hi, thank you for your reply but I have a 520 not a 520 plus and my software is version 13.00 not 5.31.

should I revert my firmware back to 12.90?

No, I tried powering down and back up and then disconnecting and reconnecting my phone, Etap and heart rate monitor all with no success.

  • Hi. I had sensor issues after updating software from 5.20 to 5.30. Now Garmin have just released version 5.40 which, if you look at the release notes, says that this software reverts your device back to 5.20 as there were sensor connectivity issues with release 5.30. I have updated my device to this latest software and will see if all is fixed when I next have ride. Give it a try, as Im sure like me everything was fine with 5.20, so in theory this should fix it. Good luck

I've had the same issues. They either drop, or are refound constantly. Both Power pedal and Cadence sensor. I had this problem very sporadically last season, but not it seems like it's every ride. Have you had any luck with any solution?

Weirdly enough it turned out not to be my garmin and instead was actually my Etap which was messing up the connections. I read on weight weenies forum that if you remove all batteries from your Etap for at least five minutes it “resets” the system.

After that I repaired my shifting, phone and heart rate and they were all working. So somehow the Etap was messing up all the connections ThinkingThinkingThinking

Gotcha. What's strange is that my entire sensor system is all Garmin. Edge 520, cadence, speed and vector pedals. Was never a prob last season. Also seems like cadence and power go out at the same time. They're eventually found, but it's really distracting. I do have my Android phone running Strava in the background, but always have. Think I need to a) replace batteries which I already have and b) call tech support?
