Garmin 520 shutting down

After installing an update yesterday via Garmin Express, (I was already at 12.50, and the update was to do with maps and some other stuff), my 520 has been shutting down mid ride at approx 25 minutes. The device stops recording and shuts off, no warning.
I've done Factory Rest as advised by Garmin and no joy, same problem.
Anybody any ideas on how to fix this glitch as restarting my Garmin every 25 minutes is not ideal.
  • Right, pleased to report the 12.53 works and the V3's are now functioning corretly after I managed to reload the software via Bluetooth - Happy bunny :p

    hi can you please tell me how did you get that update? or where can I find it?
  • Since doing a few more 'updates' via Garmin Express / Garmin Connect to my E520 that evening, shutting down problem seems to have been rectified (touch wood). I've done a few rides on the Turbo around 90 mins and it's worked as it should. I am still on 12.50 and haven't updated to the Beta 12.53. I'm loathed to do it as it's working ok just now.............

    The E520 also beeps every couple of minutes saying 'Download complete', luckily this doesn't occur during an actual ride, but I've no idea what download this may be....seems to be another software glitch.

    Whilst I was out of country I did get an email from Garmin offering to replace my head unit at a cost as it's out of warranty but I'll hold off on doing that in case there's no need to.

    An additional problem that has occurred though since updating my Vector 3S to 3.30 is that I am now suffering random Power and cadence dropouts. Going to have a look at the pedal and battery contacts (as per other forum advice) this afternoon and do another test ride to see if there is any change. I've also noticed that when I go into the Vector 3S settings on the E520 to see the Vector sensor features, the screen is blank???

    I've got a sportive on Sunday so we'll see how they all perform.........

    I was beginning to think it was just my bad luck but it seems there's quite a few users out there suffering similar problems. C'mon Garmin, lets get these errors ironed out.
