Edge 25 and Speed Sensor setup issues

what is the proper way to get the magnetless speed sensor to work correctly?
I installed the sensor, my Edge 25 detects it right way, but it doesnt seem to do anything. All the time while riding in the forest my speed will drop to 0.0, and my mileage is way off at the end. If I lift the front of my bike and spin the tire it doesnt display any speed numbers.

My buddy has a 520 with the same sensor and his works perfect. If he spins his front tire the speed shows up and at the end of a ride he might show "12.2 miles" where as my unit will show "6.6miles".

Any tips or suggestions? I'm new to all this not sure what is wrong. Do I need to ride in the streets for a bit so the unit can calibrate properly? I dont see an option on the Edge 25 to manually put in tire size like the 520 has.

    I've tried several times and even went back to 3.0 and tried the update again to 3.13 and still cannot get it to read my speed sensor unless it's in "Indoor" mode. :mad:

    Ok tested this and seems to be working ok. Now there did seem to be some strange readings at the start of my ride, but that could either have been my imagination or the sensor calibrating itself.....it han not been used withe the edege 25 before.

    I will have a more detailed look at the data later but so far so good.

    Wont work

    I cannot get the update to work - always saying update failed. I even did a hardware rest on the unit.

    I had to put the files in the REMOTESW folder to acknowledge the update as when I put it in the root folder nothing happens? Am I doing something wrong??

    Are you guys using the \GARMIN folder to dump gupdate.rgn in - are the instructions on the Garmin site wrong?

    The Garmin Express software however, says it is still runs on software version 3.00, but I have the extra options of the update 3.13.

    The actual speed is a lot better now, but everytime I want to view or start a course, it crashes.

    I just copied the gupdate.rgn file to the /GARMIN Folder and once i disconnected from my laptop (i did remove the device properly for a change rahter than just unplugging it)

    Once disconnected i was propted to install update and after 2 mins it was done. No issues.

    Also my unit is telling me that it is v3.13 but the gps version is 3.00

    The unit software and GPS software are 2 different things so that is correct.

    Still Broke

    Mine is still Broke! I have contacted Garmin Support and they are helping - I will let you know how I go and if it fixes the issue for me.

    Make sure you report back to Garmin so they can fix this issue for other :)

    Mine is still Broke! I have contacted Garmin Support and they are helping - I will let you know how I go and if it fixes the issue for me.

    Hi Keeks,

    As stated above I cannot apply the new update 3.13 to my edge 25. Keeps saying "Update Failed". I have had two replies from Garmin but the issue has not yet been resolved.

    I know the process is simple, I am not doing anything wrong but my unit just will not take the update.

    I have given them some more info and hopefully they will solve the issue with the next email - fingers crossed.
