Edge 25 and Speed Sensor setup issues

what is the proper way to get the magnetless speed sensor to work correctly?
I installed the sensor, my Edge 25 detects it right way, but it doesnt seem to do anything. All the time while riding in the forest my speed will drop to 0.0, and my mileage is way off at the end. If I lift the front of my bike and spin the tire it doesnt display any speed numbers.

My buddy has a 520 with the same sensor and his works perfect. If he spins his front tire the speed shows up and at the end of a ride he might show "12.2 miles" where as my unit will show "6.6miles".

Any tips or suggestions? I'm new to all this not sure what is wrong. Do I need to ride in the streets for a bit so the unit can calibrate properly? I dont see an option on the Edge 25 to manually put in tire size like the 520 has.
  • I am thinking about getting either the 520 or the 1000. Why did you try the 25 when you have the 1000?

I needed a small unit for the Velodrome. It has to be concealed and placed where you cannot read it whilst riding. The size and shape is perfect, such a bummer it doesn't work 😐 The BC coaches frown on bigger units.

    Very disappointed

I wish I read this thread before I bought the Edge 25 :-(

My speed readings are all over the place.. varies 2-3 km/h every second on good GPS reception and up to 10 km/h in area's with trees.
This makes the Edge 25 nearly useless to me: there aren't that many data fields and if they're also this inaccurate..

I returned the device today, because it doesn't seem that Garmin gives any priority to fixing this issue.
Bought the Edge 520 instead, not that I need all the extra features, but at least that device is (more) actively developed and fixed by Garmin.
  • Any update on when this will be fixed?
  • Garmin can we please have an update on when this will be rectified. Thankyou.

I hope it's getting fixed soon! I bought the edge 25 this week, but with more than 5 km/h difference to the real speed, it's not a suitable bike computer for me...

Why do you not know the timeline yet?

The bugs been reported and confirmed.
Surely there should be some sort of timelne now.
Is anyone actually working on this issue or has it only just made it as far as the bug tracker?

Works fine on the Turbo but I feel I have wasted cash on 2 x 25's and 2x speed sensor and cadence.

I don't mind paying extra for the other models but after owning them since mid April, I cannot get my money back.

I am tempted to get legal advice for buying a faulty product.
