No sound messaging anymore on my Garmin 1030

There is suddenly no sound messaging anymore on my Garmin 1030. Reset did not help. F.i. route indications, switch on/off, stop/go on course and synchronised BT messaging of my Samsung smartphone all come without sound signal. Any suggested solution? Of course I put on the button "sound" in the menu ...

Make sure nothing is blocking the little holes on the back where the sound comes out.

there is a setting to turn sound off so make sure it is not toggled for some reason

You will likely need to do reset to get the sounds reset. One of the recent releases messed up the tone allocation on some units.

Local Garmin Support advised me to (1) Full hard reset of my Edge 1030 (2) Check recent software updates via Garmin Express and (3) Remove and reinstall Garmin Connect on my smartphone.

My Garmin Edge 1030 always has latest software updates so (2) is not the issue. I did (1) and (3) and it looks like it solved the issue of silent notifications. I will monitor the device during the coming rides.

However, I need to say that (1) is onerous as it completely resets your Garmin Edge with removal of all historical rides, planned courses and activity settings...

Steps to take in (1) as recommended by product support team:

- Put device in off-modus

- Push lap/reset and start/stop buttons simultaneously

- Keep on pushing on both buttons while switching on the device

- Release the lap/reset and start/stop buttons only when you see the Garmin logo (may require 30 sec patience...)

- Device will start again

- Reboot is succeeded if you are asked to install your settings completely again

I hope this will help anyone experiencing problems with the absence of sounds during notifications and course directions.
