Version 13.10 - Missing Vo2 Max or Performance Condition

Ever sine I loaded V13.10 a couple of days ago,I have lost Performance Condition. It no longer shows in my ride summaries on Garmin Connect ( website and Android are both missing). Nor do I get a Performance condition indication on the 1030 which usually happens in the first 8 minutes. Also today, for the first time in 2 years, the 1030 turned off after about 1hr 10 min s into the ride.

  • As I thought...trying to reinstall the 12.20 update and I got again the "loader loading" issue...

  • Did you get it from the 13.10 beta zip? I did, followed the instructions on my link, and it worked as expected.

  • So, did it fix the issue?  Also, what data or settings were lost?  I started to do this on mine yesterday, but stopped when I got the rather ominous warning that user data would be deleted by installing the 'older' software.

  • Sorry, never mind - I didn't see some of your posts from earlier.  Thanks.

  • I'm holding off trying to roll this back myself at the moment, but it might come to that soon.

I got this rather vague and disappointing reply from Garmin support after I chased them up:

"We now have more impact on the case and it has been escalated further.

It is with regret we do not have a solution at this time, but you will be notified when we do.

I appreciate your feedback and I apologize for this inconvenience."

  • PROBLEM FIXED! Workaround as provided by some of you here: the software roll-back did work eventually, which did fix the problem. Pretty unprofessional that customer service is not able to provide this solution themselves...anyhow, I'm back at software version 12.20 and I've got my performance condition and VO2 max back! The roll-back did indeed erase my settings, but most of them were restored automatically after the first synchronization with GC.

  • Something that might be of future use if you're looking to roll back to a previous firmware but don't have the firmware file;.

As long as you are rolling back to public release firmware & you had previously updated it via Garmin Express on your PC rather than OTA then the firmware may well still be stored in the ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\PrimaryFirmware folder. As whenever Express updates a firmware, map file etc on a device it caches them on the hard disk before updating, which in the case of map updates can consume a heck of a lot of disk space

  • You are absolutely right, GBs & GBs of Garmin stuff including each of the FW updates going back.........

  • Has there been any response from Garmin support about a fix for this big bug

  • Hey Garmin support,

We all know you work hard on new SWs. Thanks for that.

Despite of your hard work it looks like in the past ~10 firmwares  a few fix cause also another bugs, missing features etc.  I suspect this is not only the one device you develop the SW.

    Let the community help you!

For us it is unacceptable the current approach: pay a lot of money for the device and the lifecycle of that is only a few years (see the missing new features compared a 1030 with an 530 such as swittcing on/off the radar by using sw or the breath counter on a 830) and also a new SW cause several other bugs that makes our sport life more difficult.

Maybe it would better to publish the source code and let the community fix it. It can be more stable, reliable and more people can fix issues. Please let the us know (here) if you do not agree this or if you have better, faster, more reliable suggestion.

Thanks in advance to support your customers to do sport and  be able to use the device they payed a lot of money.
