Edge 1030 is recording activity but not saving it to the device.

Ever since the Garmin Connect outage my Edge 1030 has been problematic. It records my cycling activity, shows work out stats, but then does not store the activity nor upload the activity to Garmin Connect. I've reset the device as well as full data delete and reset.

The activity is not stored on the device? You can't see them in the list of activities on the device?

The activity does not appear in the list of activities on the device, nor does it appear in Garmin Connect. It also does not load to connected 3rd party platforms (TrainingPeaks and a Strava).

Are there any files in the directory \Garmin\Activities on the device? Is there any log info in \Garmin\Debugging?
Are there files in /Garmin/NewFiles

I had something similar a while ago. The time/date may be wrong on your device, are you on the latest firmware? This contains a fix for the time/date drifting when used indoors (e.g. on a trainer) with no GPS fix.

I had the same problem today. I ended the ride as usual but the garmin did not save it. I can't believe I loose the data. I have a .txt in /garmin/debug/ with the time of the error. Is there any way to recover the ride?

I’ve got the same problem! Having massive problems with my Edge 1030 resetting itself / deleting activity profiles / not saving my ride data. Like you have tried a full reset and it makes no difference. Have raised a support call.

Thank you for your suggestion. I looked at the \Garmin\Activities folder and found the "missing" activities but they were saved with different dates (3 weeks prior). The device had not been updating time/date because I was riding indoors so much.

Glad it’s fixed. Stumped me for a while when it happened.
