Cadence Sensor connects, but no data

Hi,

I jumped on my summer bike for the first time this year. The cadence and speed sensors connected fine, but I got no cadence sensor data on the 1030. I have changed the battery, but still no data. I am don’t have the new 9.5 firmware. Maybe that will fix it, but has anyone else seen this issue?

Best wishes Michael

I have removed the sensors from the 1030 and tried to re-add them. If I do a search all I see the cadence/speed sensor. I add that and no data. If I search for cadence sensor only, it shows up and works. Strangely it is also showing a power meter I don’t have.

I am still waiting for 9.5 to be available.

  • Which sensors do you have? The older type which is one unit with both sensors ( GSC - 10)  or the newer separate sensors? I think the newer sensors have to be paired separately. That is the way it shows on my 1030.

As for the power meter showing up, I can't see how that is happening unless there is a bike nearby with a power meter.

  • A speed/cadence sensor and a power sensor with the same ID number normally indicates an ebike or a trainer.  Strange...

That is the confusing part. I have these Amazon. The ANT+ only. I don’t have a power meter, but I have now realised as I type this it is picking up my Wattbike Atom from the summerhouse Slight smile. I will turn that off and then delete all the sensors again and repair. I am still confused why the sensors didn’t work yesterday. I turned off the 1030 well away from the house and it still didn’t work.

You are correct about pairing them separately. The working one on my winter bike shows them as two devices. I will update once I retest.

Another update. I have removed all sensors from the 1030. The power meter was the Atom. I added that and named it. I then turned off the sensors on the 1030. I have paired both the cadence and speed sensors on both bikes. They’re named to the correct bike. I have turned off the sensors on the winter bike. Even though both the cadence and speed sensor are connected, and I can see the firmware and battery status which is good, I still get no data. I will have another look tomorrow. I have restarted the 1030 multiple times.

  • Don't forget to align the magnets.

    These ones don’t have magnets.

  • If you added the power meter from the Atom, the 1030 will get it's cadence from the power meter. Could that be the issue?

The Atom is off and I have turned off the sensor on the 1030. Once the 1030 has a power meter will it always try to use it for cadence? I need no speed data either.

  •  The only other thing I can think of is the cadence sensor is not working correctly but in my experience that is very rare. Can you try pairing it to another Edge?
