Suddenly got syncing problems

Had my first 2020 workout today. Everything was as usual and did a hard interval workout. But after my workout edge wont sync the session. Impossible to sync todays data to garmin connect.

Tried to remove and pair again on my phone (iphone xs), reinstalled GC, restarted phone and edge lots of time. No help. And now I can see that restitution time has disappeared from my session on edge. Still shows latest workout with VO2, load, etc.

Hawe also tried to sync with garmin express to a PC with cable. Telling me sync successfull but no workout data in connect. Latest was 31.12.2019 and NO changes to phone or edge. Strange. Any suggestions? Servers down?

  • Maybe try a manual upload of yesterdays workout ?, now that there's a connection ?.

Also, what do you mean "using Connect iQ" ?.  I'm assuming you are using an iQ app/widget that isn't connecting ?.  Maybe check that both the "Edge 1030" BlueTooth connections are active on the phone BT system. I believe the BLE portion connects to iQ on that BT connection.

  • Yesterdays workout cant be uploaded. Still no option for that on that specific workout. Only delete. And I have done that. There was no .fit file for that day/workout at all so I guess  the whole recording was a mess.

By using Connect IQ I mean the garmin app. I can sync to GCM and there is connection between edge and phone but if I open to see installed widgets and apps in CIQ it is only greyed out. Fenix is connected ok. Cant use the the app for

    administrating edge at all.

  • I'm assuming you have iQ apps and/or widgets on the device, yet the GCM app doesn't show these in the device section of GCM.  I've had this happen and usually a sync when I know the GCM is connected to the device, resets the GCM app so it sees the apps/widgets that are on the device.  When it didn't, I resorted to doing the entire clearing out of the GCM app off the phone, logging out of GCM prior, than dumping all my BT settings, phone and device.  Pain in the butt.

If it helps any, here's the Garmin recommended BT rest procedure.  What I add to the procedure is to actually remove the actual GCM app from the phone and download a new version from the (Apple) store, this way I know I'm (in theory) getting the most updated version.  I've done this a few times.  Garmin BT sucks, no question and the fact that I have this BT procedure saved on my Google Drive account speaks all.

Once your phone boots up turn on Bluetooth and make sure that location services are on.

Go to Connect app and sign in.

  • Still no luck :-(  No connection to Garmin's Connect IQ app and still two different training loads. One from edge and one from fenix. And edge does not upload to strava anymore. A bit frustrating, this. Maybe try a factory reset on edge.
