Training status with more than one device V7.85

Hi, I was hoping with v 7.85 that we might be getting consistent training status's across multiple devices.  At least on the beta that isn't happening - is this happening with everybody?

My 7-day training loads are now showing correctly on both my Marq and 1030.  Both show a training load of 557.  Here are the activities:

What I'm struggling with is the 1030 shows my training as Productive, the Marq shows my training as Unproductive.  Which is right??  Any ideas?

TIA

  • I cannot help but feel disappointed in that my setting sync and training data between devices appears to be completely broken after the update to v8.0 firmware.

The problems I have observed on after my first ride with the new algorithms are as follows:

    - Training status not matching (Productive on Fenix 5+, overreaching on 1030)

    - Recovery hours not syncing to Fenix 5+

    - Training load of 0 for the edge 1030 on the connect platform

    - Recovery hours abnormally high (3.5 days vs usually around 20-30 hours on the old firmware)

    - Vo2Max not syncing back to either Garmin Connect or the platform

    - Training effect abnormally high for my usual 44 km ride (4.4 aerobic, 3 anaerobic, usually both are around 3-3.5

I double checked that TrueUp is properly enabled on both devices and the settings for zones and FTP are correct. As it stands today the analytics are currently useless due to the broken sync and inaccuracies. I'm hoping that the inaccuracies resolve after a few rides and no longer recommend abnormally high recovery times, however Garmin must fix the other problems as the TrueUp tech and the insights have never been this bad.

Do they even perform basic integration testing when they update their devices?

  • Mine is now working nicely with Version 8.  Marq Expedition and 1030 are nicely in sync.  It is important to make sure everything syncs several times before doing any activities, and afterwards.  BUT once everything has a chance to sync back and forth a few times my watch and edge are both showing the same loads and same status.

  • Yes but don’t the MARQ and 945 have latest first beat metrics (training load balance) as 1030 has now received with v8?  Where as Fenix 5 and 935 don’t.

interesting to hear if issue is only seen for 935 and Fenix 5 devices syncing with 1030 since update to 7.8x beta and 8.00?

  • Same problema for me, and I posted some days ago similar behaviour (https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-1030/191521/training-status-suddenly-changed-after-8-00-update)

After a week the things are even worst!

Edge 1030 (now I'm out of my zone, when for real that is my zone)

    And Fenix 5 is different

  • Upgraded to 8.00 when it became available and everything is fine now. Sync is perfect.

  • I recommend you open a ticket and make this known to them, new algorithms or not, a useful feature that worked for months should not be rendered disfunctional due to differing software support on each device.

If they advertise it, it is up to them to ensure compatibility with all products that support the TrueUp function otherwise the feature means nothing and no-one will trust the company's products going forward.

It's like losing web based service functionality on your older computer just because new paid versions of the OS do things differently and the company doesn't want to invest money is ensuring backwards compatibility in the back end infrastructure (hopefully this is not the case here and it's simply a bug, but this is the analogy).

  • I have the same problem.

    Fenix6X (firmware 3.0)

    Edge1030 (firmware 8.0)

  • Looking at last 7 days load

Edge 1030 (v8) is reporting Training Load 7 days as  365

    Looking at the 4 bike rides I did in history on Edge the load is (255 + 85 + 13 + 12) - Total 365

FR 935 (v14.10) is reporting Training Load 7 days as 298

Looking at the 4 bike rides I did in history on FR, I can see the same 4 rides are there (synced by True Up).  But the 935 is cacluating the Training Load Differently.  You can't see the individual training loads associated with the rides on the FR935 history.

V02 and Recovery Time are synced correctly but Training Load now calculating differently across devices since v8.00 update which will affect Training Status.

    Any comment Garmin?
