New Edge 1030 Public Beta 7.85 Now Available

A new Beta software for the Edge 1030 has been released. Full change log, instructions, and software for installing the beta can be found here.

  • For any issues that you encounter please fill out the form included in the download and attach it to an email to [email protected]. Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.
  • Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

Changes made from version 7.50 to 7.85:

  • Training Load Focus. Low Aerobic, High Aerobic, and Anaerobic stats are tracked over a 4 week window and the user should be able to track what needs to be focused on.
  • Two-way setting sync. Changes to some settings made on the Edge (zones, user profile, etc) will now be uploaded to Garmin Connect.
  • Heat/Altitude Acclimation. Shows user's acclimation to different altitudes and hot/humid environments.
  • ClimbPro. See upcoming climbs while riding a course so you can prepare for needed effort
  • Power Curve tracking has been added to the My Stats menu.
  • Nutrition/Hydration tracking alerts
  • Training Plan Review Page Improvements
  • Workout Comparison Graph. Provides live feedback while executing a workout.
  • Widget Management. Disable and re-order items in the widget loop
  • Bike Theft Alarm*. While armed, get alerted when your Edge device moves.
  • Find My Edge*. Help find a misplaced Edge by making it beep or showing its last known location on your phone.
  • Grit/Flow**
  • Jump Metrics**
  • Added a new Popular data field category and generally improved the data field category order
  • Updated screen creation and editing flow (applies to eBike/STEPS, Lap Summary, Segment, and Data Screen)
  • Ability to swap data fields while in the timer loop on long press instead of edit only (additional tap required)
  • Updated battery icon to be more visible in some places
  • Incident detection setting is now active per profile instead of globally
  • Added ability to hide data screens without deleting them
  • Reordered settings to match the Edge 830, mainly splitting the growing number of settings into Safety & Tracking (Incident Detection, Get Assistance, Contacts, GroupTrack, Bike Alarm) and Connected Features (Phone, WiFi, Device Transfers)
  • Additional small changes and improvements

* Complete functionality requires an upcoming Garmin Connect Mobile release

** Mountain Bike Profile Only

  • It is related to the beta version. I have communicated with the Humon folks and they said that the new firmware is causing the issue, on the 830 as well. They said they would see what they could do, but it's down to Garmin to fix it and that Garmin has been really good working with them on it.

If you delete the humon datafield and reinstall it, it works every time. You just have to reassign the field as you start the ride. So now the drill is pop open express on the mac, sync the garmin, remove humon interval, immediately reinstall it, and then put the garmin away for the next ride.

If you want to prep the garmin for the next ride by reassigning the field to the humon, and turn the garmin off again, the field is broken. It's a 1-use at a time data field for now. If you want to see the communications I have had with humon just hit me up.

  • Phone connection AND Livetrack still busted.  Found out at HHH with wife trying to follow me.  Had been working well on training rides earlier in the week.  Ended up with Bluetooth connection fails, as well as Livetrack would just stop.  Sometimes it would stop if lost mobile data from phone, and then not resync up, other times Bluetooth connection to phone (Note10+) would just go away, and sometimes Livetrack would just stop for no reason....

    TWO big issues:

    1. The Bluetooth radio firmware on the 1030 still needs work  (this part is actually the hard part, I get it.  BUT it's annoying as hell to spend this kind of money and not have basic functionality working for this kind of this device...)
    2. Livetrack should be able to handle communications blips and return online (sending stored waypoints during the timeframe it was offline)  This is pretty basic software engineering really, and I don't understand why this part is broken at all)

  • can we please have some update on the blended training status issues.  The 1030 with 7.85 is a big step forward, but the training status is not the same as other garmin devices, and in general it is really confusing to get two completely different determinations from two devices.  Honestly makes little sense, other than a bug.  Can you please advise if there is a plan to fix this - ideally before the production release of this firmware.

  • Bluetooth and Livetrack work very well with Iphones. What is different about the Android OS that causes the problem?

  • I reported it to Humon, as i guesed it had something to do with the IQ app.
So now they know that the problem also exist with firmware 7.50 as this is the version im running om my Garmin 1030

  • Minor annoyance: The Find My Edge function in the latest Garmin connect iOS (4.22.1) launches Google Maps instead of apple maps.

Ok Thanks. Is it expected soon? Or does this normally takes months after releasing the beta?

  • Software for the 1030 and Botrager 1030 release on the same day when it is made a public build.

Is anybody else getting a black bar popup at the bottom of their screens while navigating? It appears to be a navigation prompt text box but it has nothing in it. I have navigation prompts set to text only (I would turn it off completely but the only options are text only or map). P also have sharp bend warnings turned off. I notice this happening on a wooded winding climb,
