Quarq TyreWiz (v0.11) Sensors Not Connecting Reliably After v7.50 with ConnectIQ TyreWiz v1.05

Not sure if this is to do with v7.50 of the Edge 1030 firmware or v1.05 of the ConnectIQ TyreWiz app, but something bad happened within the past month.  If I stopped long enough and the TyreWiz sensors went into sleep mode, they would just drop out and never re-connect.  For the past six months, everything worked if you rebooted the Edge 1030 _after_ the sensors went to sleep and woke back up.  Now, when I start a ride, the TyreWiz sensors don't connect at all until I've ridden for about ten minutes and then reboot the Edge 1030.

It's also annoying that you MUST use two data fields for both sensors and they're using a weird font.  It would be much better to just add front and rear tire pressure settings as individual fields.  Isn't this an option with the ConnectIQ API?

Is Garmin going to add native support for these at some point?  Clearly, there's some sort of problem with ConnectIQ or Quarq's ConnectIQ app itself.  It has never worked as flawlessly as the Edge 1030 connecting to power meters, HRMs, etc.

  • This is how the TyreWiz app looks most of the time on the Edge 1030.  I emailed SRAM a year ago, but the app still doesn't work correctly.  Not sure why Garmin doesn't just support these sensors directly.  So strange.

  • Just purchased the Tyrewiz and I can't even get the work property on the edge 1030 as well.

  • Same here. The TyreWiz data field stopped working on my Edge 1030 as shown on the screenshot posted by  at around the time when firmware 8.00 came out. Before that, I was able to get the data field to work more often than not, at the latest when rebooting the Edge. Unfortunately, I‘ve just spent money on a second pair of TyreWiz which more than doubles my disappointment.

@Garmin: Please, please add native support for TyreWiz. In fact, before buying my first TyreWiz, I was under the impression that this is already the case since they are ANT+ sensors.

@Quarq: Please, please give your TyreWiz some software love and fix the data field ASAP! It‘s a crying shame that making real use of the really expensive TyreWiz and a Garmin Edge is dependent on a data field which clearly doesn‘t have your attention!

  • @Virex Sorry to hear that. I'll be on the with @quarq today. I recently just purchased the Tyrewiz and one of them is not updating the firmware. I already have a ticket with them ,so I need to call them back. They asked  swap out the old battery with a new one. I'll definitely bring it to their attention.

  • Sorry for your troubles as well. Thanks for bringing up the topic to their attention. Maybe you could post what they said.

  • I just emailed quarq again as well. They offered to RMA my sensors, but I never did it since the sensors are fine.  They work on my Fēnix 5X and with Quarq’s TyreWiz and AXS iPhone apps.  They just don’t work on the Edge 1030.  I’d encourage everyone here to email and call Quarq and Garmin’s support about this as well until somebody fixes it.

  • There is a new update for Tyrewiz  Data field at Garmin connect

  • Still lists the version as 1.0.5.  Internally, the app itself is still identifying itself as 1.0.1.  The only changes are "added support for newer devices".  Quarq never responded to my email either.  I may call them again today.

  • TyreWiz has been pretty reliable with version 7.5 of the firmware on my Edge 1030; however when I upgraded to the beta version of 8, TyreWiz became VERY unreliable. I kept the beta 8 firmware installed for a while, but most of the time TyreWiz did not connect so I reverted back to 7.5 (and everything is fine once again).

Has anyone had success with the release version of the v8 firmware for the 1030? I'm really hesitant to upgrade to v8 (even though the 1030 keeps bugging me to upgrade every time I turn on the device) because I rely on TyreWiz to keep me informed of a puncture (had a couple of crashes without TyreWiz due to a soft tire that I was unaware of).
