Incorrect wattage with 7.50 and Faver BePro pedals

Since some weeks my edge 1030 shows paired with the Favero BePro pedals too high watteges, for example same hill with same intensity are now 400 W instead of 330 W.

I also saw each time i calibrate the pedals with the edge /zero caliblration, -not dynamic) ...the crank lenght in the pedals gets changed. ( i can see that after connecting the pedals via USB with the PC and the BePro updater SW from Favero)

I am nearly sure there must be some issue in the garmin SW.

ON my second bike i have the newer Favero Assioma pedals and they still work in a good way with correct wattage values.

@ Gamin Please check this, it's really annoying all the problems i had with that device, blue halo, a lot of SW bugs during the lust year aso...

  • Thank you Galiero61 for your informations, very helpful!

I don't have much time these days, but i hope on weekend i can create the ANT Logfile and send it to aweatherall, and after that if no solution is avaliable, maybe i will also go back to SW 6.30.

    Regards,

    Martin

  • Hi Galiero61, i´ve one additional question:

Do you use/have paired only the bepro or do you also have on another bike the Assioma pedals? I´m asking because maybe the problem is that i own both models, the bepro and the assioma, and they are both paired with the edge 1030 (of course not at same time)

Maybe the problem has something to do with that, i´m only thinking about....

    Regards,

    Martin

  • Did You make dynamic calibration also? The BePro 's  biggest problem (one of the worst power meter on the market, btw, 99% faulty factory slope calibration, almost impossible to install correctly, and could be twisted easily, etc :)) is the accidentaly spindle rotating after a sprint or harder interval and due to it the force angle will be false and the whole measuring will be wrong (usually always very high). So what i can advice, do dynamic (backward pedaling) calibrating almost every week to eliminate these rotating.

  • Hi Luko79! Yes, i did dynamic calibration, but that didn´t solve the problem, i´m pretty sure the problem is the SW of edge which changes crank lenght settings of the pedals itself after calibrating via edge.

And i really do not agree that the BePro´s are "worst powermeter on the market" ....i think they´re good ones, compared with some others, but that´s not the topic here. ;-)

    Thank you for your answer.

    Regards Martin

  • If you have ANT+ capable mobile phone, You can read out the crank length (and even much more information) realtime with IPSensor android app. The BePro's desktop app is not so perfect (and not updated since years), so ignore it if possible.

Trust me , I'm a power meter expert, i have seen dozen of different BePRos, all are wrong (overmeasuring the power with 5-15% by default ->faulty slope calibration), and it's a pain with train with them if You are not an expert.  The Assioma is a totally different (good and reliable) product, lack of any issues of its predecessor and one of the best pedal based pm. (and yes, there are other products on the market which are so bad products... )

  • Ciao ,no ho solo una bici ,uso solo pedali bepro che abbino con edge 1030 e 520

  • Thank you Galier061 for that info.

    Regards, Martin

  • Hi,

I also have bepro and I agree they are probably the worst in the market, they get loose and you get corrupt readings, are very unbalanced (they spin around when you want to fix the cleat) and don't look very well. Charging port is clumsy as well. This is by far the biggest waste of money I have ever spent on bike accessoires.

Ontopic: I have had a lot of occasions where readings were way too high, and each time it was because one of the pedals was not aligned any more. Please check your L/R balance in the garmin app, if it's something like 66/33% then this will be your problem.

  • Hi Bartdes, thank´s for your input, but my L/R balance is nearly 50/50 and the pedals are correctly mounted/aligned. I personally had only problems with the BePro´s at the beginning, but since that time i didn´t change the pedals between my two bikes, and since i put some Loctite Screw fixing fluid on the threads the pedals were working very goog, ...until Garmin´s SW desaster started, -as i read above with SW versions higher 6.30.  ....so the ball is at Garmin as usually. :-(

  • The same problem. Has anyone found the system to correct the problem? With garmin 520 is all ok.
