Incorrect wattage with 7.50 and Faver BePro pedals

Since some weeks my edge 1030 shows paired with the Favero BePro pedals too high watteges, for example same hill with same intensity are now 400 W instead of 330 W.

I also saw each time i calibrate the pedals with the edge /zero caliblration, -not dynamic) ...the crank lenght in the pedals gets changed. ( i can see that after connecting the pedals via USB with the PC and the BePro updater SW from Favero)

I am nearly sure there must be some issue in the garmin SW.

ON my second bike i have the newer Favero Assioma pedals and they still work in a good way with correct wattage values.

@ Gamin Please check this, it's really annoying all the problems i had with that device, blue halo, a lot of SW bugs during the lust year aso...

  • Is the crank length correctly set on the Edge under the sensor details for the pedal? The Edge will need to be in communication  with the pedals for you you to see the crank length value.

  • Yes, the crank lenght is correclty setted in Garmin, -and in bepro itself, but everytime i calibrate the bepro's on the Garmin the crank lenghts is changed in the bepro, i checked that more than one time. For example i set lenght to 175mm with bepro updater SW via USB on the PC to 175, everything good so far, but after calibrating with garmin the stored crank lenght in bepro is changed to an empty field, -or with my last edge i had before the exchange because of the blue halo problem, -they got setted to 208 !!! mm after calibration! Hope garmin will solve that!

  • Could you post the settings.fit file and one of your activity FIT files and I will take a look?

  • Thank you aweatherall, i´ll upload the files today evening.

  • I checked your activity file and your settings file and thy both show the crank length as being 175 mm.

    manufacturer 263   software_version 10.15   crank_length 175 mm

I don't know if there is a software update for the pedals, but I'm think the issue might be at that end, in that it is not doing the length conversion correctly.

The ANT Bike power spec expresses the crank length as shown below.

The scale of the crank length value is 0.5 mm, and an offset of 110 mm must be added to the received value to calculate full crank length.

    Examples:
    (1) To indicate that the crank length is 172.5, the value in the Crank Length field is sent as 125.

                (172.5 mm– 110.0 mm)/0.5 mm = 125.

    (2) A value of 130 is received in the Crank Length field. The length of the crank is 175 mm

            130*0.5 mm + 110.0 mm = 175 mm

  • aweatherall, thank you for your support! I´m not a specialist at all, but i can´t believe the problem is the pedals SW, it worked until some weeks absolutely perfect and the problem startet maybe after a SW update of the edge. ( Galier061 above has same problems and he went back to SW 6.30 as he wrote above) AS far as i understand, the garmin overwrites some values direct in the pedals, each time i calibrate the pedal lenght in the pedals itself is deleted or wrong.

Hope there will come a fix for that very soon. the pedals SW is the most actual avaliable.

    Regards, Martin

  • I will send you a private message. There is way to log the radio traffic between the Edge and the pedals.

With that log we can see what the Get and Set commands are passing for the crank length.
