Garmin 830 vs 1030

Hello everyone, this is my first post....
I have just seen the reviews of the 830. It has a lot of features that the 1030 does not have. Do you think they will be added by means of an update or are they hard wired? Thank you!

In the DC Rainmaker review: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/04/garmin-edge-530-cycling-gps-in-depth-review.html

    A quote from the review:
Got an Edge 1030 already? You’ll get almost every new feature you see above via firmware update to your Edge 1030. The notable exception being that the pre-loaded mountain bike Trailforks maps, due to licensing reasons.

    Thanks!!!
  • I have nothing but issues with my 1030... :-(

    - ANT power and cadence constantly drops
    - Touchscreen is sluggish
    - Live track NEVER works
    - BT to phone constantly connects/disconnect
    - Lately I'm also starting to see dropouts on HR via ANT
    - Waited over a year for Edge remote to work (it does now, but mann that was a tough time)

    Aaaahhhhh.../!&%#/%#!

I have a preorder on 830 (or maybe I can swap my 1030 to an 830 from Garmin support? I asked them that and are waiting for their reply).

I hope that fixes my issues...

If not - Wahoo it is. I can't take anymore...
  • So I'll just pull out my phone if I really need to know the upcoming elevation profile.

How do you see that on your phone? Which app?

This reminds me of Samuel Johnson's quip about second marriages being a triumph of hope over experience. I've never replaced an old Garmin unit with a new one that wasn't just as buggy as the one it replaced...

  • I really don't understand your issues besides Livetrack (overrated gimmick feature IMO) and BT issues. All my sensors worked flawlessly from day 1. This includes several HRM,  powermeters, speedsensors and cadence sensors and Di2. All Ant+. It seems to me that you have a faulty unit with ANT+ issues.

  • The REVIEWS refer to "MOST" are you able to identify those that will be included and those that won't, taking into consideration possible hardware that the 1030 may not have compared to the 2 years newer 830

  • If not - Wahoo it is.
You write stupid in a circle. Change to this Wahoo and give yourself a break.
  • anybody have an update of when ewe can expect some of the new features from 830 into the Edge 1030? The 830 is already out now for 4 months......

I am like you ... I find it inadmissible not to have the same data as a model below. Garminb said he would do an update but when? in 2022 ?? when the edge 1040 will be released ...

Yes. The 830 processor is supposed to be twice as fast as that of the 1030.
