New Public Beta 6.44 Now Available

A new Beta software for the Edge 1030 has been released. Full change log, instructions, and software for installing the beta can be found here.
  • For any issues that you encounter please fill out the form included in the download and attach it to an email to [email protected]. Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.
  • Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.
[h=4]Changes made from version 6.43 to 6.44:[/h]
  • Fixed elevation zooming issue with large courses/activities/segments (>100mi or km).
  • Fixed ANT sensor battery low notifications.
[h=2]Installation Instructions[/h]
  • Connect your Edge 1030 device to your computer using the micro-USB cable.
  • Download and unzip Edge1030_644Beta.zip and place the GUPDATE.gcd file in the \Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  • Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
  • If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE-630.GCD file in the \Garmin folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device.
    NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • Yes, on the first ride I have turn it OFF , but after that I realized that if is working as it should , it is very very good option for an course with descents

    I agree sharp bend warning is quite useful. It is one of those things you cannot rely on, it may not always warn you, but when it does it is usually worth paying attention. If you don't mind a few false alerts once in a while this is useful to leave turn on. It does not come up often enough to be annoying in my own experience.
  • My experience is quite the opposite. The warning doesn't pop up until you are almost on the turn, which sort of defeats the object as it's a destraction when really you want to be concentrating on negotiating the turn.

    I agree. It is completely useless feature. During descents I just look at the map from time to time when it is safe and I see the hairpins comming. How simple is that.

    Yop, I do that as well.
  • +1 Agree completely. On the Edge 1030 the SBW's can be turned off - lucky you... The Edge Explore (2018) lacks this feature upto now...

    The option is there yes except it doesn't work. Turn SBW's off & you still get them
  • I use the FIT file version to export my RideWithGPS routes on to my Garmin. I rode a 200km Audax yesterday, for the first time in all my use of Edge devices I was presented with a warning about the number of points in the course

    "200 course point max exceeded, final 7 points will not be shown"

    One of the advantages of the Edge series was not having such limitations on max number of points... this seems to have crept in to the "features"

    Route appeared to show correctly when I rode the ride but to be treated with that at 05:45 as I was setting off was a bit worrying!

    Some of us use these devices for more than a couple of hour blast around the roads you know!

    I've just tried the same route but exported as a GPX and then loaded on to the device and there was no error!

    Is this a Garmin or RWGPS file export issue?

  • I think that all of the Edge series computers have always had a 200 point limitation.

    When you export FIT or TCX from RwGPS Course Points are included in the file. A GPX file doesn't contain any Course Points

    Confirmed that this also occurs on a TCX of the same route. This is the first time I have ever seen this warning and over the last 4 years I've ridden some long rides on Edge devices.
