I used Battery Save Mode for most of one ride when my original 1030 was new. But since my reason for having a computer on my bikes is to see what is going on, I haven't used it since, except for a time or two when the battery reached the 10% level. I have done several tests of battery life, with the Edge 1030 alone, and also with the External Battery Pack. I have seen nearly 23 hours on the Edge alone, and nearly 52 hours for the Edge + External Battery Pack. These tests obviously require several days to run.
Do any of you routinely run your Edge in Battery Save Mode? How much longer has your battery life been compared to running in normal mode? I'm curious, but I'd rather see my data than ride for two weeks "in the dark".
One friend is planning to ride Paris-Brest-Paris next year, and I advised her to get the 1030 and battery pack. 50 hours of battery life might be enough to complete the ride without recharging, but some safety margin would be a good thing.
