1030 refuses to go into mass storage mode

I tried resets, I tried different usb cables, I tried different laptops, I have tried the procedure which I have found in the internet (disconnect, power off, push lap/rest button, reconnect to laptop) all without success. Any idea what to do apart from sending it back ?

ZuhMan's procedure did the trick for my 1030. It occasionally wouldn't go in to mass storage mode (turning fully on instead) when plugged in to the PC. However this lap/reset button trick worked perfectly…
