Edge 1030 Memory Card Question

I have a question pertaining to the memory card you can insert into the back of the 1030, so in the edge 1030 garmin manual it says it supports memory cards up to 2TB but they have to be formatted to FAT32 I do not know how to do that and would like to increase my devices memory what is the max size card the unit will accept without having to be formatted to FAT32?

I would rather wait a few extra minutes then get my data downgraded.
  • Not sure what it does if you open the map in an expanded view.

What do you mean by expanded view? I have tried re uploading my ride today to see if I could salvage it but no such luck, I am out of ideas, other than disconnecting my cell phone from the edge so it wont auto upload until I get to wifi, but that defeats the purpose of incident detection, which I like. But all my rides that I did yesterday that I was near my wifi router so that they went straight to wifi to upload all have the 1 second spacing.
  • The method of uploading makes no difference to the data that is upload to GC. All the data gets uploaded at a recording rate of once per second. The spacing you are seeing is likely due to the duration of the activity. If the activity is short then GC is not reducing that data density in the display.

Ok that makes sense so the long activity's have the one second spacing but garmin connect is reducing the data density. Is there anyway around that or am I stuck? I hope I am not stuck because that would stink. And I'll make this point again strava has the one second spacing but doesn't have the cycling dynamics. Which was part of the reason I went with Vector, not PowerTap P1's, or Assioma's.

Is there any way to get around Garmin Connect reducing the data density?
  • Garmin Connect does not reduce the data density of the fit-file, it only does not show all trackpoints. The stored activity-fitfiles still contain all trackpoints.
If you would like to see all that points, you should install Garmin Basecamp on your PC/Mac (for free), then load an activity fit-file direct from your Edge (or you can re-export it to your PC from GC). Now you can zoom in and you will see all trackpoints. And you can see a list with all trackpoints with recorded-time for each.

Thankyou mcinner1 I knew there had to be way to see all my points. I know its nerdy to want to see all my point but I do. Thanks again!

No one cares why you want to see them.;)

You might check out "Golden Cheetah" which is a fit file viewer (you can read/copy the fit files in the \Garmin\Activity folder.
