Detecting the right gear by sensor or activity profile

Hi together,

I'm using my Edge 1030 on three different bikes (indoor, MTB, Racing) and also three bikes have their own sensors (for sure).
Isn't it possible the select the correct standard gear in Garmin Connect by the sensors automatically?
If not is there any way to set the standard gear based on activity profile?
In the moment I just found to set the standard gear on garmin connect based of activities means one for running, one for Cycling and so on.
One of these two solutions would be very helpful.

Did I miss something or is this function not possible in the moment?

You can define default gear separately for:
Running
Cycling
Swimming
Hiking
Walking
Other

Anything beyond that is currently not possible.

Nowadays all sensors of all bikes are stored in a „sensor pool“.
When you turn on your Edge, it looks for all sensors and connects to the „woken up“ ones.
Means: take the bike you will ride, wake up the sensors (turn the wheel, the crank and so on) and turn on your Edge.
After a while the Edge will stop looking for other sensors.

I have to admit: I don‘t know if this method is a juice-eater or not...

Ok! Some old posts but this is April 2019 and the Garmin 1030 STILL does this. Soooo, lets fix it Garmin. What we want (what I want) is this....
I have two bikes. A ROAD bike and a GRAVEL bike. I have two seperate profiles setup, one for ROAD and one for GRAVEL. What I want is for my ROAD profile to have my ROAD bike as default, and to have my GRAVEL profile to have my GRAVEL bike as default. Simple! Different gear for different bikes. NOT one default gear for just cycling!

After I upload my routes to Garmin Connect, I can change the gear setting to the correct bike there, but that's additional work and unnecessary. Also, by selecting the incorrect default on the Garmin 1030, the miles indicated for the bike are incorrect. They're racking up on the wrong bike. This should have been changed a long time ago. After all....who has just one bike????

I like the sensor pool method so I don't have to think. Just wake them up and go... though, from your other post, I can see why this is an issue with you. I guess that it doesnt bother me too much to make changes on Garmin Connect after a ride. I always change the activity between training, race, or recreational so it is just one more quick change that I make.

I agree 100%! The suggested functionality seems so logic and obvious. Can't understand it has not been implemented long time ago. I also have two bikes: A Commuter bike and a Road bike. I bicycle every day and it is the weather conditions which determines which bike to use. Sure, I try to select the correct gear after each tour but it is cumbersome and easy to forget. I frequently have to do some serious detective work to get it in order retrospectively. It would make so much sense to have each bike/gear connected to each their activity profile. Thanks for considering it.

I would also like to request this feature. I have multiple bikes with their own sensors and it would be so good if Garmin Connect could detect automatically which bike I am using (after I have configured the setups of course).

Many sensors are not bike specifit. For examples connected lights, HRM, edge remote. Some power meters. It is not as simple as that. But using the profile could be a good way.

I understand that a lot of people keep moving their sensors around, as do I. But the option would still be great, In my case all my bikes have their own cadence sensors installed and that would be enough to "bind" them to a specific bike profile.

just run into the same issue and i am really surprised that this hasnt already been sorted out. what is the point in having bike profiles if all the ride data gets dumped onto your default bike.

Garmin please fix this!
