Data Fields on Navigation Screen

Hi,

Can tell me somebody how many datafields I can configure on the Navigation screen of the 1030 ? On the 1000 it was only 2...need more for Powermeter / RPM / Speed / HBPM. It is not nice to swipe every time the screen for this information!

Any one has this information, thanks.

Correct TBT needs to be on.
It will switch to a zoomed in map page showing the turn at about 0.1 miles from the turn.
It will stay on that page until you make the turn or until you tap the page to return to the previous page.

    OK Thx.

Does it really function ? Do you use it a lot ?

Now maybe dumb question: I know TBT must be embedded into the route, how must this be done ? I always download routes from public sites, yes I am lazy, and I really do not know if they have TBT infomation....
  • Actually no. TBT instructions are generated by the Edge when you select that you wish to ride the course. You are think of course points that are embedded in the file and can be used to provide turn instructions. TBT instructions and course points are two different things.

    Thanks again.

So every GPX file that I load in the Edge can be used with TBT and this functionality ?
  • Another option is to get the Varia Vision. The heads up can have four data fields so you always have those in front of you. I turn off the auto-scroll and just use one page on the vision. That page includes the Distance to Next so I constantly know how far to the next turn. Turn-by-Turn navigation also appears in the Vision which makes the map less critical. I don't need to look at the head unit as much when I am wearing the vision.

    Yes.

OK again Thanks, so could be a option if Garmin still refuses to build it in the Navigation/Map screen!

It?s worth adding that TBT instructions are generated based on road junction information stored on the map, so if you?re cycling along a road that bends to the left but there?s also a turn to the right, TBT will only notify you if you?re turning right. In other words, it notifies you of changes of road rather than changes of direction.

Though it doesn?t always get it right. If the map has junction information wrong, sometimes it?ll notify you of a turn to the left when that?s the way the road is going anyway, or slightly more dangerous if you?re not paying attention, will take you across a junction without warning you. Onus is always on the rider, of course.

And sorry, I?ve no idea why my apostrophes are coming up as question marks on this post!
