Data Fields on Navigation Screen

Hi,

Can tell me somebody how many datafields I can configure on the Navigation screen of the 1030 ? On the 1000 it was only 2...need more for Powermeter / RPM / Speed / HBPM. It is not nice to swipe every time the screen for this information!

Any one has this information, thanks.

Just got the information from a shop that just like the Edge 1000 only 2 data fields can be configured on the Navigation screen......what a bummer. Think will not purchase the 1030 because this is a must have feature for me!!
  • I guess this is a matter of personal taste as it never really bothered me on my Edge 1000. On my map screen, I have Distance to Destination and Heading, and for me that's all I really want. I like that the map is so prominent. Also, what helps me is the Garmin Remote on my handlebar, so if I need to see my other data, I just cycle through pages.

I never really thought of what you guys are suggesting, but maybe you can contact Garmin and request that they add that ability in a future firmware update if it is important to you? Even though its a non issue for me, my guess is if you guys want this, a lot of other people want it as well.

I know a lot of people like to have at least those 4 datafields what I have mentioned, swipping is not a option because you want not miss a turn or so. This was for me a main reason to try the Wahoo Bolt what can be configured like that, and I must say this is one of the nicest option on the Wahoo Bolt....but the rest pffff......
  • csteenbe....but if you are on a different screen (i.e. not nav), the screen should flip automatically to the map/nav screen ahead of any turns, so it can notify/show you. Cannot vouch for this on the 1030, but it certainly does this on the 810 and see no reason it would not on other Garmin devices.
  • On the 1030 you have 2 options. The Edge can either switch to a turn instruction map page or display the turn instruction text over your current page.
  • I assume you can also just configure it for one field and use a CIQ field that displays more than just two values. Is the height of the data fields the same if you choose 1 or 2? Can you actually select CIQ fields for them? Could someone post a picture of the map page with a single field to see just how big it is.

Than I have to activate TBT, I suppose ?
How much far from the Turn it will switch from screen or notify me ?
Does it switch back to my "normal" screen when I took the Turn ?

    Thx.

As a matter of interest, if this is a must-have feature for you, what are you using at the moment? I ask because I also find the 2 data field limit a PITA on my Edge 1000.

    Thanks

I now use a Wahoo Bolt, before that a Garmin 1000 what I sold to a friend because I knew the new 1030 was coming. I was satisfied with the 1000 however always missed that function very bad so the Wahoo Bolt has this function and I wanted to try something else. But after using it for 3 months also abroad I find the navigation not good also you have to use more or less always the Companion App what I dislike.

Also I am using a lot Garmin Connect, as of august I can not see the details of the activity .... I do not why, but is a real pain in the .....

So want to go back to Garmin, but still Garmin can not manage to get more than 2 data fields on the Navigation/Map screen......

Correct TBT needs to be on.
It will switch to a zoomed in map page showing the turn at about 0.1 miles from the turn.
It will stay on that page until you make the turn or until you tap the page to return to the previous page.
