I am using a Forerunner 970. The firmware version is 16.28. Garmin Express cannot detect it when plugged via USB. I am using Windows 11. I've tried different cables.

Hi, i do have the same problem on one specific windows 11 PC. I tried on different PC and it worked well there. Maybe wrong USB Chipset or driver? The PC which is not working is from Lenovo.
Try this:
The "force connect" workaround is a specific button-hold sequence that bypasses the watch's normal boot-up and forces it into Mass Storage Mode. This is particularly useful for the Forerunner 970 if the computer is failing to recognize it as a drive.
Disconnect the watch from the USB-C cable and Power it OFF completely.
Press and hold the START/STOP button (top right).
While still holding the button, plug the USB-C cable into your computer and then into the watch.
Keep holding the START/STOP button for at least 30 seconds.
If successful, the watch should eventually show a USB/Computer icon or simply appear as a new "Drive" in your File Explorer (PC) or Finder (Mac).
Once you see it on the computer, you can release the button.
