FR970 vibrating without any reason

Today my FR970 started vibrating out of nowhere. I didn't have any alarms set and there was no incoming call. None of the buttons would stop it. It finally stopped after about two minutes, only when I accessed the menu to change the watch face.

Anyone with the same problem? Any idea?

Thank you

  • Screen is normal and behaves normal.

    No swimming or showering

Randomly. but. Weeks, moths. But is started from the beginning when I started using the 970.

The firtst time I noticed was in July 2025.

It only happens(until now) during running activity.

Now I know I need to Pause the activity and then resume. This works but but it is very annoying and terible during intervals.

  • In my last run, when GPS was found it started vibrating forever, I had to soft reset the watch to fix it.

  • Same for me last week. It stopped pressing randomly the buttons after 1 min or so

  • had this happen again this morning on a run.  When it vibrated to tell me I was out of HR range the vibrate stuck on.   Had to pause the resume the run to stop the vibration.

  • Oh no! Just what I expected, given the responses. I just had the problem during an interval. Very annoying. I press STOP. Then it keeps vibrating. Then RESUME. At that point, the vibrations stop. Nothing special happened. I ran with Stryd Footpods, HRM Pro heart rate monitor, and Shokz Openrun Pro 2 on, with Spotify playing. Please Garmin, fix it. It's gotten worse since the last update.

  • No! Again today during a training session. I see that firmware 16.28 is being rolled out. I don't see anything about it, but I hope the unwanted vibration will be fixed then.

  • I doubt it.  I've logged numerous bugs and only one of those was resolved in 16.28

    • During a run activity, the Performance Conditioning alert buzz just does not stop.
    • Has happened several times.
    • Last time was 2-11-26.
    • Pausing and resuming the activity stops the buzz.
    • This was a Garmin Run Coach activity.
    • Screen appeared normal.
    • My watch has done this since I got it just after launch.
    • Activity shows version 15.52
    • The stuck vibration has happened a couple times during the first activity after an update.
  • I'm starting to get fed up with it. Even updating to 16.28 didn't fix it. Today, 27 minutes into a workout, the 970 started vibrating again without stopping. I stopped the activity, waited a moment for the vibration to stop, and then restarted the workout. No, nothing special going on. Just running. Garmin, WHY? There was a quick response, but otherwise, it's been quiet. I've already reported it to support because this is annoying. A flagship with this kind of malfunction during intense workouts. Nobody wants to have to stop mid-run to work around a bug. Or...... do I have a bad 970?

  • This happened to me today while running

    • Does the screen exhibit any specific behaviors when this happens?

    No

    • Have you worn your watch while swimming or showering in recent months?

    No

    • How often does this occur? (Daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)

It happened to me today while running and it happened also previously while running. To stop it I have to presso the up button without releasing and then it stops.

    • Around what date did you first notice this happening?

The first time: one month ago. The last time: today.

    • What were you doing when this happened? (Recording an activity, regular daily use, not wearing the watch, etc?)

    Recording an activity - running

    • What caused the vibrating to stop? (Did it stop on its own? Did you press specific buttons? Etc.)

I pressed without releasing the up button and the vibration stopped.
