Sluggish screens on FR970 during running

Today I did a second run with the new FR 970. During a running activity I noticed something compared to the FR 955. When clicking through to the screens, the screens react slowly, sluggishly, jerkily. Not smooth or fast. That is better with the FR 955. Do other runners recognize this too?

I have disabled touch for the running activity so I only use the buttons.

I also notice that saving the activity takes a long time.

Firmware 6.19

  • This could be the case but this is my only assumption and NOT factual. Thankfully we have a system to check what is happening.

  • I also took some videos I'd like to show as well. I described them in a previous response on this thread. Is it okay if I upload those there in addition to the other user. You have my permission to contact me by email.

  • Let's be real, the hardware/CPU in the 970 is dire. Trying to use maps on this when running in the mountains, compared to my older and cheaper Suunto is such a disappointing experience... So slow and laggy, bordering on unusable. Hopefully they can improve via firmware, but I'm not optimistic.

  • I confirm that saving activity after a long run or bike ride takes a very long time, it's quite irritating

  • I just wanted to chime in because I’m experiencing exactly the same sluggishness with the FR970 that others here are describing — something I never had when using the 965.

Scrolling through albums in Spotify is flat-out painful; it lags so much you actually wonder if the watch froze.

Zooming on maps is also very sluggish, and making corrections if you’ve accidentally picked the wrong route is frustratingly slow.
I really don’t get how the “top” model could perform worse in these essential everyday tasks than its predecessor. Garmin, is this by design? Or is there something we can do (settings, firmware, etc.) to restore the responsiveness the 965 had?

Thanks for hearing me out, hoping for solutions soon.
