Basic EGR trouble shooting of 965 + Kickr Core WORKOUTS

This one has me stumped, and I've done due diligence searches.

It's basic, I have a FR965 and want to start coached Indoor Bike Workouts, I also have a KICKR Wahoo Core that's been upgraded to the latest firmware (1.5.36). I have no other devices / apps that I intend to use in tandem.

I CAN:
 - Pair the Smart Trainer
 - Hop on and start pedaling to get speed, cadence, and power
 - Set the resistance manually from the Smart Trainer Options

For the life of me, I CANNOT: have the watch EGR adjust the resistance for me to target specific HR & Power during a workout.

- I have no other devices / apps that would have connected to ANT+ FE-C
- Bluetooth light is blinking periodically, ie there is no active blue tooth connections

I've repeatedly restarted watch, trainer, their pairing... each time I start the workout resistance shows 0 (from new pairing) and doesn't move during warmup, or in high intensity intervals after warm up...

There must be something simple I'm missing Fingers crossedFingers crossed, Mike

  • Me i'm using MyWhoosh ( swift like but free) For workouts so it controls the  trainer and watch only tracks the workout.
But from the watch you can set resistance or power as well( not both as they conflict with each other). You can for example create a workout in GC with your desired settings/structure and push to the watch and start from there. Or from watch you can set / change resistance during a workout via long press on middle button -> Smart Trainer Options -> Set Power.

  • Yes, my experience is with Zwift, and I know when the app controls the the trainer there is a VERY marked difference in resistance between warmup, intervals, and cooldown, eg where I'm effectively just free spinning my legs in cooldown... All while never leaving the same "middle" gear on the bike.

When I run a GC Workout suggested by GC Cycling Coach (Anaerobic 30min warmup, 4x interval, and cooldown), the watch data screen shows resistance 0 the whole time (is that correct, or indication something is not working?)... I mean I can vary the effort I put it, without changing gears, and approximately match what's asked of my by the GC Coach/Workout, but it makes for a very different experience than Zwift was <shrug>.

  • I would have to check on next workout but I think resistace value on the watch won’t move. I don’t have it on my data fields I read just the power value
