Vo2 max

Why is my vo2 max displayed on my watch and Connect app as 5.0 as opposed to 50? Are they one of the same measurement? All forums I read, vo2 max is displayed 38 or 40 or 45 or 52. Mine is always displayed as 4.2 or 4.8 or 5.0. I'm not understanding. Thanks

That’s not your VO2max value. That’s the training effect your activity had. The values range from 0 to 5.0 for Anaerobic and Aerobic.

The VO2 Max is just a classification of the training effect. It could read "Recovery", "Tempo", "Threshold", .... This classification is the highest aerobic training effects you can get. But to…

That’s not your VO2max value. That’s the training effect your activity had. The values range from 0 to 5.0 for Anaerobic and Aerobic.

The VO2 Max is just a classification of the training effect. It could read "Recovery", "Tempo", "Threshold", .... This classification is the highest aerobic training effects you can get. But to see how it actually affected VO2max you have to look at the VO2max widget where you see your current value and the trend.

Gotha...makes sense. It turns out the Forerunner doesn't track vo2max for skiing. Only running and cycling.

The classification can either be aerobic or anaerobic, depending on which effect was more intense.

e.g. If you do an activity that's just strides or sprints, your anaerobic training effect value could be higher than your aerobic training effect, and the classification would be one of the anaerobic labels: "Speed" or "Anaerobic".
