Triangle of death - anything I can do?

Hi!

While scrolling through widgets watch resets.
This happens sometimes and I didn't mind, until this morning.
Now my 965 is in triangle of death mode, restarting all the time, just triangle is shown and then off.
Takes an hour now already.
Holding power/light button to shut it down doesn't work.
Connecting to PC doesn't change anything too, device not detected.

Is there anything I can do?

Best

Oliver

  • Thanks, I'll be doing this later as the watch is unusable.

  • Anyone has the "Save RAM region" in support menu described in beta wiki?

    I don't have it.

  • You can release the power button when the watch starts (keep holding start and back), release start when it beeps once (keep holding back), then when it beeps for a second time, release back.

  • It seems that deactivating the GPS stops it crashing, after I deactivated the GPS I was able to start an activity like Run and it did not crash. This would be the solution until they have fixed it.

  • Yes, was just about the post the same. Couldn't figure out why it worked for my indoor ride this morning, but when I did an outdoor ride this afternoon it started with the blue triangle issue. Hard reset is the only way to fix it.

  • I'd suggest everyone to wait an official post/fix by Garmin.
Did a factory reset as it was last resort. Did the basic setup (PITA), synced and started an activity: triangle of death again! Angry

  • Again, my fix with the original firmware (revert to 21.22) is a working solution. Device is working, GPS fix ok. Files were taken from Garmin servers with the official utility for service-centers, backdate manual from Garmin Beta for fenix 7 (like https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-7-series/292311/fenix-7-series---software-version-8-16---public-beta ). I do not see any other solution for such customers who have BTOD. Only factory reset and install (downgrade) firmware manually + exit beta channel.

NB. 4:30AM in Kansas, I bet you will not have an "official" solution or reply in nearest 4 hours at least.

  • Please all with this issue submit crash logs as mentioned here forums.garmin.com/.../what-to-do-after-a-freeze-or-crash so Garmin can see the cause and fix it for you all.
