Recovery HR

Can anyone explain what recovery heart rate is?
I've noticed that under every activity I have a 4 bpm recovery heart rate, it's some kind of bug, or how does it work?

  • Recovery rate is the rate detected by the 965 120 seconds after the end of the run.

  • Looks to me maybe a issue with if you stop/save right away before 2minutes is up and it defaults to some % of your Max HR or Resting HR?  Since seems like some people always get 4... or 5... or 11...etc.

    see other recent topic.

Recovery HR on Garmin is the difference between your HR at the end of the activity and your HR 2minutes later.  The longer/harder the run and warmer outside/dehydration/stress... can slow your Recovery HR.  Long easy cooldowns also can skew the number, as your HR will drop a lot if walking or slow-jog at the end of your run... not giving much recovery opportunity.  LIke my bike ride yesterday, I did 5-10min super easy spin after (HR dropped in cooldown from 130 to 110...) , not giving much drop potential.

Also what you are doing in those 2min of recovery count down... sure does effect your score!  Walking...taking off shoes, making food, changing... much different then just standing there waiting for 120seconds!!!
