Why release 18.22?

Why on earth would you roll out 18.22 to all watch owners when so many people who've used the beta have reported that it has massive problems, literally NONE of which have been addressed in the last month despite numerous reports?

Right now, you will crash a Forerunner 965 if you try to:

- Run more than 4.9km in a single session

- Re-order the glances page

- Add a glance to a folder

- Remove a glance from a folder

- Add one from your phone

At the same time the heart rate sensor is totally borked. It cannot even latch onto my resting heart rate before starting an activity, so there's no chance when actually running. Choosing to measure via the snapshot and HR broadcast will calculate two completely different numbers. You can leave the watch next to the bed and it'll still come up with overnight resting HR and a HRV score, which means that they've been hallucinating the data for some time.

Maps are still buggy with freak scrolling and panning. Lock on road bug not fixed despite being reported nearly a month ago. It's not possible to inhibit the dodgy optical HRM from influencing activities, so recovery index is totally out of whack.

I'm sorry to whine, and complain, but the arrogance of Garmin is spectacular in this regard. You cannot charge as much as you do for such a ropey product, and then break it with every software update.

  • Watch is garbage. After the update, I'm still having the sudden spike in HR halfway through my runs. With numerous other companies bridging the gap to Garmin, it may be time for me to switch brand loyalty.

  • Ugg!  I was ready to pull the trigger on a 965 purchase to replace my 745, with the primary goal to get some better battery life.  I guess I'll hold off for a while and hope Garmin gets these bugs sorted sooner than later.  The heart rate accuracy issue, in particular, is troubling.

  • If the primary goal is battery life then consider fr955. Let's hope that Garmin will fix these things this year...

  • My battery life is great, I’m a pretty heavy user and easily get 12 days or so.

  • I've been having a similar issue with the heart rate monitoring going haywire after the 18.22 update. It frequently is way under on a variety of different exercises before randomly spiking or jumping up and down, hence also messing up measurement of VO2 max. Basically making the watch useless as a fitness tracker. Please do reach out on email or check connect because I need to get this resolved. Supposed to be training for an event.

    Thank you

    Rob

  • My FR965 crashed running yesterday (approx 6k into the run) when changing playlist. It then crashed again on return home when trying to save the run. Update 18.23 was installed.

  • I have the same issue. Same version 18.23.

  • When I told you there are issues with battery life...many came after withe same things...

you need to fix this bugs asap

  • I spotted on Garmin Connect that the 965 now thinks I'm taking  a nap several times when I'm sitting at my desk at work! Hope my boss doesn't notice ;)

  • Hi -

Sorry if this is a repeat here, however I’m keen to understand when the fix will occur for Fenix 2 and other Garmin products, when undertaking running activities in particular (my experience). Cycling appears OK to me.

Is a little urgent, as I’m getting into that age group where an under read of 50bpm can have serious health consequences.

As noted from other’s experiences, use of a Heart Rate Strap - which was something that I was considering for myself - has had no positive effect when trialled by them. This suggests then, that this is a firmware not a hardware issue.

Could Garmin please provide a timeline for a permanent fix for this

    Regs,

    Bruce.
