Skiing: double counting runs

First day skiing with the new 965 yesterday. During the day it counted each run twice. The running tally while recording the session was twice the number of runs actually skied. Now that the activity uploaded, Connect is reporting the correct number of runs but the exported data to Strava shows double. Looking at the GPS and elevation data you can clearly count the correct number of runs... @Garmin please take a look at these issues.

  • please see my reply from 12 days ago, the fix is available on our current beta (18.12)!

  • One more question if I may..

Just got back from skiing, of course all measurements wrong (lift distance included). Will past activities be corrected when new sw arrives?

Is there any way to have all data from the past corrected/updated?

    thanks

  • as far a I see the issue I guess it's not possible to change what was recorded with wrong data...that's my idea

  • For what it is worth, past activities in Garmin Connect seem to be corrected. On the watch they are still wrong, but I personally do not care - the new ones look good, and I only look at historical activities in GC.

  • I saw it @Garmin-Sierra but I don't want to load beta software in my watch and I find it take a lot of time to fix something that was working before.

  • Since you guys are discussing Skiing and have probably tried out all combinations of settings. What's the best setting for resort skiing if I don't want to manually lap for lift/downhill or stops etc.? So far I only used the 965 for Ski-mountaineering, which I manually lap before going downhill. I'll be going this Saturday and would appreciate your input.

  • Just load the latest beta, leave the default settings with auto-lap, start the activity before taking the first lift and stop it after the last descent. Don't worry about the watch vibrating while you're skiing, you can even disable this function. Or just expect a vibration at the beginning of every ascent, but also don't worry if it seems late or wrong - the final result looks good to me, I guess it applies some corrections later.

  • What about Auto Pause and 3D-speed and 3D-distance? Should I pause/resume later for drink/food breaks?

Thanks! Looking forward to trying it out!

  • January 23, 2024 update:

    Hi All-

Skied yesterday (1/22/24, Stratton, VT, USA) and the functionality worked as expected using the default settings:

    • Software version 18.12
    • Autorun: On
    • Autopause: Off

Hope this is now working for everyone else!

    -Chris

  • Tried with 18.12

The runs numbers are now good but the total distance still include the lift runs in the watch stats and in the app in my phone. The Garmin connect web show the good distance. Also the distance when uploaded to Strava also include lift runs.
