High battery drain after fully charged

I bought a forerunner 965 a few days ago. It came with 79% battery and I haven't charge it for a few days. Today when it reached ~ 50% I charged it to 100% (BTW: it was relatively fast to reach 99%, and then took lot of time to reach 100%) and the battery is draining very fast now. It lost 4% in the 1st hour. It looks like it's getting better with time (6% in 4 hours). On the other hand the built-in battery widget predicts 23 days. Is this something that will gett better after a few times I'll charge it?

  • Hi , thanks.
That day i kept it realy simple... I purposely had no particulars that day
    Slept : 2300 -  0700
    Activity : no
    Wake up wach : minimal
AOD : after 4 sec off
Watch face : build in Garmin, and shows 3 values, temperature outside, battery percentage, day with day number
    Light :minimal
Night : nightstand on, connections closed / off

The first picture was taken shows the discharge starting from full on 01-10 10:22 till 02-10 07:15 to show the discharge within a period of 20h53m.
The second picture belongs to the first on 02-10 07:15 and shows the expected discharge time till empty.

The 3th picture is a little confusing, sorry. This screenshot has no relation to the first 2.
So what you see here is the first value of 91% was the value on Thursday 19-9 20:25 just before I connected the 965 for charging. At 19-09 21:45 it was fully charged.
At sunday 29-09 in the evening I made this picture to show, that indeed the discharge time is still 10 (maybeeee 11days)

  • I use the same battery widget. I never looked at it in so big detail, but it looks from the picture that at every point it decreased by 1 pixel, which makes sense. It does change in slightly different intervals, but that can be because of different reasons, however I don't see it very "irregular". So all in all it looks ok IMHO

  • When i got the 965 new at 16-09-2024 and i charged it, i saw really 20+ days till empty. Now it is still 11 days.
So i hope Garmin will find what it is.
    Anyone any other idea maybe?

  • I have something similar on my 165. Charged it to 86%. Displayed 87% right after I unplugged it. Then drained very quickly to 84% before stabilizing. I've seen this a few times now. Maybe there's a bug with something happening after charging, or maybe the battery level is being misreported. I didn't see this behaviour on my Vivoactive 5.
