Disable activity tracking forerunner 965

I didn’t realise this was an option on any watch.  How may steps does a car ride rack up?

Looks like this feature was removed from 255/955 about 8 months ago, so it's probably not an arbitrary/random change.

I was told by another user that they use the activity tracking to increase accuracy of their fitness models

Kind of interesting although who knows if it's true.

Anyway, looks like Garmin is locking all discussions of this topic :(

I did a 2 hour drive and it registered about 50 steps more.   Hardly worth stopping it, at least for me.  

yes in earlier models the option was there… in few hours ride many thousand steps get added..

i have now used a simple hack - switch off the watch itself.

however i would strongly advocate to Garmin to bring back the Activity Tracker (on/off) option.

and why can’t Garmin build little intelligence to not count steps when the watch is moving at high speeds like in a car or bus or some other logic. 

I can see why you want to turn it off.  Wow, that’s a lot of extra steps.
